16:08 PM IST: So that's it from this fixture and it indeed turned out to be an intriguing affair as we had earlier predicted.

Let's hope for more such action as we roll forwards in the BBL. Until then, this is Wali Siddiqui, Sidharth Gulati and Paras Kumar Yadav signing off! Tata!
Player of the Match: Hilton Cartwright
15:56 PM IST | That's it. Melbourne Stars win by four wickets.

Asked to bat first, Sydney Sixers rode James Vince’s 55-ball 83 and Jack Edwards’ 23-ball 30 to post 154/8 in their full quota of 20 overs. Sixers were struggling at 57/4 during the halfway mark, but Vince and Edwards batted sensibly and guided his team past 150. The duo stitched a 95-run stand and rescued Sixers’ innings. A not-so-daunting total, but it looked like Sixers had enough on the board. For Melbourne Stars, Usama Mir and Haris Rauf grabbed three scalps each.

In response, Stars were in all sorts of trouble at 66/4 and looked like their losing streak would continue. Beau Webster (35) and Hilton Cartwright then put together a fifty partnership. Sixers tried their best to pull things back towards the end, but Cartwright held his nerve and helped his team cross the finish line with three balls remaining. Cartwright remained beaten on 47 off 30 balls. For Sixers, Sean Abbott and Jackson Bird took two wickets apiece.

This was Stars’ first win in four games. Sixers, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat after winning three in a row.

A match-winning 47 by Cartwright. This has been a great innings! Well, he has broken a losing streak. Took it deep and got his team over the line.
19.3 B Dwarshuis to H Cartwright
4 FOUR MORE!! AND THAT'S THAT!! Bowls a slow bouncer, Cartwright waits for it patiently and pull it straight towards the fence at the deep fine-leg region. The losing streak has finally been broken by the Melbourne Stars.
Cartwright, you gem! Stars now need 4 off 4.
19.2 B Dwarshuis to H Cartwright
4 FOUR RUNS!! A low full-toss outside off, Cartwright slices the ball over the point fielder's head and fetches himself a vital boundary.
Juicy full-toss, but Cartwright misses the connection. 8 off 5
19.1 B Dwarshuis to H Cartwright
0 Dwarshuis from around the stumps. Bowls a full-toss outside off and Cartwright will be distraught with that as he fails to connect while going down the ground.

Stars need 8 off the final 6 balls to claim their first victory of the season
18.6 Abbott to H Cartwright
1 Bowls it full and keeps it outside off as that's been driven to long-on for one.
Excellent fielding at long-off. The man at mentioned position saves a couple of runs. Could have been run-a-ball. Now it's 9 off 7 balls.
18.5 Abbott to H Cartwright
2 Bowls it quick and full at middle. Cartwright makes use of his bottom hand and powers this to the cow-corner but a spectacular effort by the fielder at the deep prevents the boundary which leads to two runs.
18.4 Abbott to J Merlo
1 Hits the deck outside off, Merlo walks down the wicket and dabs it gently to point for one run.
