Player Bio

Ben Dwarshuis is another seam-bowling all-rounder knocking doors for his first Australian cap. He comes from the hometown of Allan Border and Shane Watson, hence the all-round traits were supposed to be inbred in him.

He is a lower-order hard-hitting batsman who is primarily known for his left-arm medium bowling. The southpaw is well-known as a T20 specialist in the Australian setup whose best is yet to be witnessed. He came into New South Wales as a rookie but could not debut at the first-class level due to injuries surfacing here or there. He made his debut for New South Wales in 2016-17 but before that, he got his chance to make a mark in Bash Bash League.

Dwarshuis got his first Big Bash contract from the Sydney Sixers back in the 2014-15 edition of the T20 league when he was a budding name, he played all the 10 games in the season where he scalped 13 wickets. Over the years, the southpaw became a regular feature in both Sixers and NSW’s elevens.

In BBL| 8 took 16 wickets and in the next version of the Big Bash, he took the same number of wickets at an average of 26.18 and helped the franchise clinch their second BBL title. His performances helped the all-rounder earn his first IPL contract in the 2018 season of the Indian T20 league. Kings XI Punjab franchise bought the Australian for INR 1.4 Crore but he did not make his IPL debut.

During the tenth edition of BBL, the New South Wales-born was at his very best where he took 24 wickets in just 13 games at some healthy average and strike rate. Dwarshuis was on point throughout the tournament, scalped a wicket whenever the Sixers needed. He was the heartbeat of the club and helped them to lift the trophy in 2021.

Later that season, the left-arm pacer got his first national call-up in the same season in the Trans-Tasman Tri-Series but the all-rounder wasn't lucky enough to gain a spot in playing eleven. He consistently remains on the fringes of the Australian selections but due to a truckload of resources already in Australia, Dwarshuis hasn’t got lucky so far. Recently, the Australian has signed a contract with Worcestershire to play in T20 Blast, helping the county win a title this year.
