A fantastic victory for Kolkata Knight Riders tonight. A perfect present to the crowd who are here to cheer their favorite IPL team after almost four years. This is Anirudh Modi, signing off on behalf of my fantastic co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Ninaad Dixit, and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav.

Much more dramatic action to come our way this IPL season! Stay Tuned! See you at the next one!
Shardul Thakur (Player of the Match): "Thank you so much. Ah, probably I don't know where it came from. Looking at the scorecard, anyone would have said that we were struggling. And sometimes, you need to listen to your subconscious mind. I need to bat according to the situation and take risks when needed.

You also need to have the skills to do it out here at the higher level. A lot of practice goes behind the scenes. Then these days, there is a period where you need to slog it out and there are guys who will do throwdowns and you need to do range hitting. And you know the pitches, they always suit the batters, you never dare.

We spoke having the depth in the bowling and batting department. Today, we had a new boy playing with us, he was exceptional. And you know the quality Sunil and Varun bring, they always bag 3 or 4 or more wickets. A very good day for us and all things went well."
Nitish Rana (KKR Captain): "We took a lot of positives from the last game. We were 7 down but we fought and today we fought hard too. A little collapse at the start but the credit goes to Gurbaz and what do I say for Shardul, I can't describe it in words, it was unbelievable.

The way Shardul batted was incredible and Rinku was superb, his role was to hold fort and Shardul's was to hit! We had planned to not give much pace during middle over, and the way Narine and Varun bowled with Suyash, it was excellent. We still can't understand Suyash, he is a funny guy and he backs himself a lot. I met him for the first time here and he was always in the plan to add a third spinner when the situation demanded."
Shardul Thakur is the player of the match.

The RCB and KKR teammates are getting to meet and greet with the superstar Shahrukh Khan.
Chandrakant Pandit (KKR Head Coach): "Thank you very much. It's a good win and the way the boys have shown character. Looking at the early stage and losing too many wickets and coming back to score 200 runs, it was nice.

I think we just expected the pitch to help spinners but obviously, you required runs on the board and I must congratulate Thakur and Rinku. We scored 200 plus and then spinners came in, Narine and Varun bowled fantastically with good support from Suyash. We have seen him in trial matches and he is very tough to pick, he can turn it both ways and it's just the inexperience but he has shown great attitude and spirit."
Faf du Plessis (RCB Captain): "Shardul played unbelievable playing both sides of the ground. Pretty hard to bowl to. So credit to him he played really well, took the game away from us. And I think its pretty obvious that the legspinners got on top of us today.

It was a good wicket. Like the way myself and Virat played upfront, you could see that there wasn't much in it but the nature of legspinners or mystery spinners to get wickets. Obviously they can get their tails up and bowl well and put some squeeze on you and obviously Narine and Chakravarthy are two top class bowlers so they put the squeeze on us very well and I thought we were pretty average with the bat. I think in the games like this even when you starting to lose, its about making sure take it closer to a total of 160. Just to make sure you look after the net run rate.

The game of T20 cricket moves so fast. You try and learn lessons and look at way you can improve. But 2 or 3 days ago, we played an incredible game of cricket. Its about making sure you tweak the things but keep looking ahead.

Its fair to say that bowling is an art. Tactically we could have been a little bit better. Same at Chinnaswamy so its something we wanna work on. Obviously Siraj is bowling well at the moment and Harshal Patel makes it 2 good death bowlers. So we wanna make sure to get some clarity on our plans and death bowling is not the easiest thing to do but we wanna make sure we do well on that."
11:08 PM IST | KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS DEFEAT ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE BY 81 RUNS! A comprehensive victory for the Men in Purple! On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, a Lord shines brightly to take his team to a brilliant victory!

RCB won the toss and opted to bowl first, the decision looked to be on point as David Willey sent both Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh back to the pavilion in consecutive balls to put KKR under early pressure.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz stood firm, going onto smash a well-paced 57 runs off 44 balls. However, Karn Sharma struck quickly as he dismissed first Gurbaz and then Dre Russ for a golden duck to leave KKR reeling at 89/5 after 11.3 overs.

Enter Lord Thakur and Rinku Singh, the duo smashed and clobbered their way to a quickfire 103 run partnership! Thakur took apart the RCB bowling attack to score an excellent 68 runs off 29 deliveries! He was aptly supported by Rinku (46 runs off 33 balls) to help KKR cross the 200 run-mark and set a total of 204/7 from their 20 overs.

Come the chase, the opening pair of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got off to a cautious but good start as the legendary batters established a 44-run opening stand inside 5 overs.

Post that the spinners entered the scene and the floodgates opened. Narine dismissed King Kohli and Faf quickly followed, falling to Varun Chakravarthy.

Since that, RCB never recovered as wickets kept falling at an alarming rate to eventually lose the match in a disappointing way. Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of the bowlers as he picked up 4/15 to down RCB!

KKR will be elated with this victory, a dominant win such as this early in the season will have the camp feeling on top. RCB on the other hand have been brought crashing back to Earth after their mammoth victory against Mumbai Indians.
17.4 V Chakravarthy to A Deep
W HIGH UP IN THE AIR AND THAT IS CURTAINS! CHAKRAVARTHY TAKES IT OFF HIS OWN BOWLING! Length ball on the stumps, gives it some air. Akash Deep goes for a big heave in the leg side but the ball isn't full enough for the stroke to be executed properly. Holes it very high in the night sky towards the midwicket region. Three fielders, the keeper and the bowler run towards the ball with Varun diving forward to take the catch! KKR win by 81 runs!
17.3 V Chakravarthy to A Deep
0 99.6kph. Full and turning back in from the leg stump, Akash provides a straight bat defending back to the bowler.
17.2 V Chakravarthy to D Willey
1 Good length on the pads, flicked off the backfoot to midwicket for a run.
17.1 V Chakravarthy to A Deep
1 Over the wicket. Short and flat outside the off stump. Hits hard down the ground to long off for one.
