Player Bio

21 wickets in 15 matches at an average of 16.85. These are the stats for Akash Deep in T20 format and his impressive control over the line and length was the reason as to why RCB roped him for the second phase of the 2021 IPL season.

Born in Rohtas, Bihar, Akash made his Twenty20 debut for Bengal in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In his debut match against Mumbai, Akash impressed everyone with his variations and picked up 2 for 21 in a losing cause.

In 2019, he made his first-class debut for Bengal in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy campaign. And just like his T20 debut, Akash was the star for his side in his Ranji debut, scalping 3 wickets in the first innings against a star-studded Andhra side.

Perhaps Akash’s biggest breakthrough came in August 2021, when it was announced that he has been roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore to replace the injured Washington Sundar for the second phase of the Indian Premier League.

An exceptional talent, Akash Deep is a confident bowler whose knack of picking up wickets at crucial junctures makes him a special commodity. IPL 2021 is a great platform for the youngster to showcase his talent.
