8:39 PM IST | Pretoria Capitals have thwarted Sunrisers Eastern Cape by a massive margin of 37 runs and have won two games in a row now.

In pursuit of a hefty total of 217, Eastern Cape was off to the worst possible start as Wayne Parnell dismissed Sarel Erwee 8(5) and Jordan Cox 0(1) in his opening over of the match. Aiden Markram, the next man in, then joined forces with JJ Smuts and generated a brief period of respite for the Sunrisers by stitching a partnership of 67 runs for the third wicket.

While Markram played the aggressor and hunted down boundaries at regular intervals, Smuts absorbed the pressure and played the second-fiddle. The partnership between the duo was broken by James Neesham as he trapped Smuts 28(25) in front and was soon followed by the wicket Markram, who departed for 46(29) with 5 fours and 2 maximums to his credit.

Following Markram’s wicket, the Eastern Cape went off the course completely and the Pretoria kept chipping wickets at regular intervals. Captain Wayne Parnell was the pick of the bowlers for the Capitals and concluded his stint with the figures of 2/20. Similarly, Adil Rashid also claimed 2 wickets by giving away 46 runs while Eathan Bosch, Anrich Norje, and Neesham also grabbed a wicket.

Earlier in the day, after being invited to bat first, Sunrisers Eastern Cape registered a colossal total of 216/6 on board. After losing in-form Phil Salt 1(2) and Rilee Rossouw 20(15) early on in the innings, English opener Will Jacks, joined forces with Theunis de Bruyn orchestrated a -run partnership, and maintained the run-rate of 10.

The 111-run partnership between the duo was ceased by Sisanda Magala as Theunis de Bruyn departed for 42(23), including 2 fours and 4 maximums. However, Jacks kept marching on and fell just short of his century as also returned back with a score of 92(46) with 7 fours and 8 maximums to his credit.

Eventually, It was Shane Dadswell’s cameo of 20(14) that cruised them past the 200-run threshold.
As far as the Eastern Cape bowlers are concerned, Magala was the pick of the bowlers for them as he ended his figures on 2/28. Ottniel Baartman also scalped two breakthroughs but was touch-expensive while Marco Jansen (1/31) and Brydon Carse (1/43) also chipped in with a wicket.

Stick around for the post-match presentation!
