Player Bio

A fast-bowler with a fiery pace, Brydon Carse is on track to become a quality allrounder, although his journey has been paused by injuries at regular intervals. Carse is a South Africa-born cricketer who has been representing Durham in the Championship, apart from featuring for England Lions.

The Port Elizabeth-born is the son of an ex-Northamptonshire cricketer, James Carse. The pacer played a T20 for Eastern Province after making his way to the North East to play club cricket for Burnmoor in 2014. However, he signed a developmental contract for Durham in 2016.

Carse’s First XI appearances came during the 2016 season but it was largely affected by mid-season injuries. Though, his 17 wickets in 8 games meant that the county side held on to the pacer. The following year, he made his T20 debut for Durham and played his maiden List-A game in 2019.

The pacer’s breakthrough season came during the 2019 season when he grabbed 35 Championship wickets, 10 List-A wickets, and seven T20 scalps in the T20 Blast. After an impressive year, Carse was called in the Lions squad for the Australian tour, as cover for Saqlain Mahmood.

The speedster was named in a 55-man group of players to begin training ahead of international fixtures starting in England following the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, he was included in England's 24-man squad to start training behind closed doors for the ODI series against Ireland.

In 2021, the Lions’ pacer was drafted in the 'Northern Superchargers’ squad for the inaugural edition of 'The Hundred'. Carse’s pace bowling and power-hitting at the fag-end of the innings will be a vital addition to the franchise.
