That concludes our coverage of the first T20I between Sri Lanka and India. The Men in Blue secured a win by 43 runs, though they were tested by a spirited Sri Lankan team. With this victory, India leads the 3-match series 1-0. The two teams will return tomorrow for the second T20I.

This is Ajay Pal Singh signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshaya Krishna Polya and our scorer and analyst Raju Khariya, who brought you all the live updates from this thrilling clash. We’ll see you again soon. Until then, goodbye!
Suryakumar Yadav (India Captain): "Absolutely, they were playing good brand of cricket. Credit to them for the way they batted. We practiced here 3 days back so we knew how the wicket will play.

The way we played in the World Cup, reminded us that the game was still too far. (Left-right combination to be persisted?) Whatever works for the team, we'll take the call."
Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "Yes, ofcourse. We were not up to the mark in the powerplay. At somestage, it looked like they would get to 240 but we pulled it back.

Little disappointed about the middle order including me. We batted poorly. It is an experiment but I think this is the way we should go in the future."

Shubman Gill: "Not really. We talked about having great communication. Chasing 214, you knew wickets are around the corner.

Yeah, definitely it is great batting with him (Yashasvi Jaiswal). We compliment each other well. Our communication is simple. We just asses the conditions and go about our business.

In T20s, you want to score runs as quickly as possible. You just have to asses what would be the good total on the track that day and play accordingly."
10:41 PM IST & Local Time: That's it!!!! The GG and SKY era begins with a dominant 43-run win. It was always going to be a tough challenge to chase 214 but Sri Lanka gave it their all. A collapse in the middle overs pushed them on the backfoot and they were eventually bowled out for 170 in 19.2 overs. It is all smiles in the Indian camp as they go 1-0 up in the 3-match series.

Earlier in the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first. Indian openers added 74 runs in the powerplay.

Shubman Gill was the first to be dismissed and he fell on the last ball of the 6th over. Jaiswal too fell on the very next delivery.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant then added 76 runs for the 3rd wicket. SKY fell after scoring 58 but Pant carried on and made 49 off 33.

There was a mini collapse for India towards the end but a last-ball six from the bat of Axar Patel took them to 213/7 from their 20 overs.

Matheesha Pathirana picked up 4/40 while Dilshan Madushanka, Asitha Fernando and Wanindu Hasaranga all got one wicket each.

In reply, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis gave Sri Lanka the start that was required to chase down a mammoth target of 214. They added 84 runs from 52 balls before Mendis was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.

Sri Lanka's middle order fell like a pack of cards and they lost their last five wickets for just 10 runs.

Riyan Parag finished with figures of 3/5 from his 1.2 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel picked up two wickets apiece.

Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Siraj got one wicket apiece as Sri Lanka were bundled out for 170, falling short by 43 runs. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
19.2 R Parag to D Madushanka
W WICKETTT!!!! Man, Oh, Man! Another one hitting the stumps! Riyan Parag gets his third wicket in the match, and India win the first T20I by 43 runs! A back of the hand googly from Parag. Full-length ball on the leg stump. Madushanka clears his front leg and goes for an across-the-line hack. Misses the wild swing on the inside edge and watches the ball crash onto the leg stick. Sri Lanka are all out for 170 in 19.2 overs! India begin the GG-SKY era with a good win! India lead the three-match series 1-0!
Dilshan Madushanka is the last man walking out for Sri Lanka.

19.1 R Parag to M Theekshana
W WICKETTT!!! Riyan Parag with the final over and knocks over Theekshana! Over the wicket with a slip in place. Full length ball following the batter making room. Theekshana yorks himself and tries to squeeze it away in the off side. Gets an outside edge and disturbs the base of the stumps. Parag with his second T20I wicket!
Siraj finishes the night with 1/23 from his three overs. Sri Lanka need 44 off the last 6 balls. Surprise, surprise. Riyan Parag will bowl the last over.
