Player Bio

Riyan Parag came into the limelight when he played a valuable role in India’s triumph in the 2018 U-19 World Cup held in New Zealand. Though Parag was just 16 when he made his T20 debut for the state of Assam in 2017 but the final turnaround in his career happened when the Prithvi Shaw-led Indian U-19 team ruled the world where he got nurtured by Rahul Dravid himself. Parag is a handy batsman in the lower middle order, capable of hitting lusty blows along with the leg-spin for which he primarily gets included in a team.

The allrounder is another U-19 talent that was spotted by Rajasthan Royals which falls in line with the symbol of IPL where talented players meet opportunities. The Jaipur-based franchise bidded for him in the IPL 2019 auction for Rs 20 lakh. At 17, raw but a promising allrounder made his debut in the toughest T20 league, played seven games in his maiden IPL stint to score 160 runs & bag two wickets. Since then, Parag has improved his performances for the Royals to become a regular in the club setup.

At a very young age, the allrounder has become a household name, courtesy of the Indian Premier League. However, Parag comes from a not-so-popular cricketing center and has graduated from Assam’s grass root levels, after representing the state at Under-16 and Under-19 levels. Parag made his domestic debut during the 2016-17 season and has clubbed quite a few notable performances for Assam since his debut.

Parag might be too young and raw at the cricketing circles, but he has shown a lot of talent and temperament at both IPL and Indian domestic scenes. His prowess promises and hints that the all-rounder is one for the future.
