So, that marks the end of our coverage from the Pre-Quarter final match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023-24 between Bengal and Assam. Assam defeated Bengal by 8 wickets and 13 balls remaining to qualify for the quarter final stage of The tournament after 14 long years.

This is me, Saptak Sanyal signing off alongside my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee and our scorer/analyst Yogesh Kumar. Switch the tabs to follow our exclusive coverage of the Cricket World Cup match between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Bye-Bye.
Riyan Parag (Assam Captain): "The plan was to bat second with dew coming into play. The ball was gripping in the first innings. The main motto in the chase was to take down the spinners and glad we did that.

I have become a lot calmer and focussing on myself and putting the best foot forward always. I am focussing on myself. It's all about enjoying about myself and the team. The guys are excited and we are here to win.

Our aim is to win the tournament. They have been a great inspiration from me. Let's see how it goes. I am focussing on myself and hope to do well. Hope to do well for the team. The guys were fantastic and I am proud of them."
19:51 IST and Local Time | Assam defeats Bengal in the pre-quarter final round and qualifies for the quarter final after 14 long years and Bengal is eliminated from the competition.

Earlier in the first innings, Bengal started the innings very well with Abhimanyu Easwaran and Abishek Porel scoring a few boundaries. But Abhimanyu Easwaran fell scoring 21 runs and captain Sudip Kumar Gharami departed for 1. Ranjot Singh Khaira scored 4 run before getting LBW to Parag. Later Shakir Habib Gandhi joined the crease with Abishek Porel. Porel later tickled a thin edge to the keeper for 23. Later Shakir Gandhi, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury and Shahbaz Ahmed failed to score big. Karan Lal and Kaushik Maity batted well in the end to help their team recover from 86 for 7 to 138 in the end. Lal was the top scorer with 24 runs beside his name. Maity scored 21. Akash Deep hit a six in the last ball to remain unbeaten on 7 of 3 balls.

For Assam, Akash Sengupta picked up three wickets. Riyan Parag took a couple of wickets. Mrinmoy Dutta and Saurav Dey shared two wickets evenly between them.

Coming to chase, Rishav Das and Denish Das started the innings very watchfully to score 27 in their opening partnership. Later Denish got out and the impact player Bishal Roy joined the crease and started taking on the bowlers. Rishav departed scoring 31 from 26 balls. After Rishav got out by Shahbaz Ahmed, captain Riyan Parag joined the crease and he took the Bengal spinners on. He remained unbeaten scoring 50 of 31 balls and his partner Bishal Roy made a positive impact by scoring 45 facing 36 balls. Riyan Parag scored his seventh consecutive half century straightaway in this tournament.

For Bengal, Mukesh Kumar and Shahbaz Ahmed took one wicket each. The fielding effort could've been better by them but they failed massively there by doing a lot of misfieldings.
