That is it for Super Saturday! In the first match of the afternoon, it was Chennai Super Kings with a dominating win over Delhi Capitals. CSK finished second in the table and will play against Gujarat Titans in the first qualifier. The second game of the double-header was a thriller and Lucknow Super Giants held their nerve to clinch a narrow win of 1 run. LSG finished in the third spot and will play the Eliminator and with whom is a question. The answer will come tomorrow! So three teams fight for the 4th spot!

Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals are still in the race to the playoffs but only one can make it. If MI loses against SRH in the first match of the Super Sunday and RCB wins against GT, then it's RCB. If MI wins and RCB loses tomorrow, then it's MI. And if both RCB and MI lose their respective matches by a certain margin, then RR might peep into the knockouts!

For now, it is me AkshayaKrishna Polya, signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Anirudh Modi, who, alongside, our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav, brought you all the live-action of this mouth-watering fixture.
Nicholas Pooran: "First of all, I would love to thank my god. He is my strength. I thought to get deep as possible. Small ground and I felt that they would serve me with bad balls in the middle, so tried to take as deep as possible. I have batted well through this tournament. I take pride to take my team out of such tight situations. The time has been invested on me heavily and I am trying my best to repay. Ayush and I had a partnership in Lucknow against Chennai. It was similar to this one. So we had a chat to take it deep again. I was confident batting with him. It is nice to win the last two games. What is impressive for us is that our bowlers did brilliantly well and kept us in the game. With the dew coming and the dimension of Kolkata, our bowlers did a tremendous job. They are pretty impressive in our wins. We have a young bowling attack and it is impressive they defended the total here in Kolkata."

Krunal Pandya (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "Thank you so much, first reaction is satisfaction. Just really happy with the way we have played, there was a lot of pressure while batting and bowling, but if you focus, you can pull it off.

Everything starts from the belief, at one stage when they were 61/1, I just thought 2-3 overs can change the game, there was a lot of help for the spinners, if we bowled in the right areas and bowled dot balls which would force them to take the high risk, we had a chance.

Rinku has been special this year, he showed it again tonight. The way he batted, it's a high pressure situation at the death and it's important to execute well, let's take it one ball at a time and not give away any easy balls. I go with my gut, last game I felt there was a bit of reverse swing so I went with Mohsin and today it just felt right to give Yash the over and it paid off."

11:43 PM IST | Time for the post-match presentation ceremony.
Ravi Bishnoi (Lucknow Super Giants): "It always feels nice to win such a match and when we do the morale comes down, sorry up, the morale is boosted. When Rinku was batting we were scared to lose the match, it felt like the match was slipping away.

We discussed that if the ball starts getting stuck in the surface then the run scoring will be tough. The only focus was to bowl dot balls and take wickets for the team, we had to stick to the plan through out. We were trying to finish in the top 2, it hardly matters, reaching the playoffs was more important and if we keep fighting like this, we can surely win the trophy."
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain):" The result didn't go in our favour but there are positives for us. We did better in a lot of things and we hope that we will come back stronger next season. You need to do well in all three departments and win matches back-to-back. We had the ability to finish well in the crunch situations but failed to finish it.

I feel, in the fourteen matches I have captained, I have talked about Rinku Singh only. He is very close to me and I know how well he has delivered. I am lost of words for Rinku. If he can bat this way in these crunch situations, you now how good he is."
Earlier in the match, Nitish Rana, the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders, won the toss and decided to bowl first. KKR started well as Harshit Rana dismissed Karan Sharma in the third over. Lucknow Super Giants batters Quinton de Kock and Prerak Mankad added 41 runs following the first wicket. Vaibhav Arora was bowling his heart out and reaped the rewards in his third over as he pegged the Super Giants with back-to-back wickets of Mankad and Marcus Stoinis as Vaibhav left the batting side reeling at 55/3 in the seventh over. The wicket of Stoinis was a beauty as the young pacer bounced out the mighty Australian.

The Knight Riders’ spinners came into the limelight as Narine and Chakravarthy sent back Krunal Pandya and QDK in successive overs respectively. Struggling at 73/5, LSG needed something special from their hard hitter Nicholas Pooran and boy; he didn’t disappoint. The southpaw smashed the bowlers to all parts of Kolkata and scored a quickfire 58 off 30 balls. Pooran added 74 runs for the 6th wicket alongside Ayush Badoni, who supported the West Indian with a 21-ball 25.

Once Badoni got out in the 18th over, Lucknow slowed down again and lost a couple of wickets. But Krishnappa Gowtham’s cameo of 11 runs in 4 balls took them to 176/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing 177 to win, KKR management sent a new opening pair as Venkatesh Iyer and Jason Roy came out to bat. Both smashed the LSG bowler's left, right and centre and gave KKR a flying start, scoring 61 runs in no time. K Gowtham bowled a terrific over and dismissed the high-flying Venky Iyer in the final over of the Powerplay. And Kolkata lost wickets in clusters as LSG bowlers put pressure on the batters. Wickets fell regularly, and all of a sudden, the advantage given by the KKR openers was thrown away by the middle order batters as they gave LSG an opportunity to make a comeback.

KKR slipped from 108/3 to 136/7 at the end of 18 overs. Still, Rinku Singh kept hopes of Kolkata alive and scored runs at the other end. With 41 needed in the final 12 balls, Rinku Singh kept the strike for the majority of the balls and hammered boundaries one after the other. The southpaw smashed Naveen-ul-Haq for three consecutive fours and followed by a mammoth 110m six to reduce the target to 21 runs of the final 6 balls.

Yash Thakur was under severe pressure and bowled a bit in Rinku's arc in the latter stages of the final over. 19 needed off the 3 balls, Thakur bowled a wide, which was followed by 6, 4, 6 from the KKR finisher but the home side fell short by one run in the end! Rinku was brilliant for his 67 off 33 balls but failed to take his side home.

Did KKR's decision to bring in Suyash Sharma as the impact player in the first-innings back fired? Might have been! But Nicky P of LSG and Rinku Singh of KKR have stolen all the hearts!
11:27 PM IST | Game of margins they say and it came down the wire yet again! Lucknow Super Giants held their nerves and have escaped a Rinku Singh miracle and have clinched a spot in the palyoffs. To be more accurate they will play the Eliminator as they finish on the third place!

8 runs needed off the last ball. Had they run hard for a double in the third ball things would have been different.
