That's it from another brilliant game in the Indian Premier League 2023. Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Akshay Bhide and AkshayaKrishna Polya and scorer Paras Yadav. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Varun Chakravarthy (Player of the Match): "That's how the game of cricket is. Last match I went for 49 and today I got 3 wickets. That is life. More focused on my accuracy rather than variations. I don't want to add more variations but I want to be accurate.

I want to like to credit AC Pratibhan and Abhishek Nayar as they have worked really hard with me. I would like to credit this to my new born son. I haven't seen him yet but I want to thank him and my wife. I will go and meet him after the IPL."
Nitish Rana (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "Yes sir, I have been talking in the last few games' tosses that if we do well in all the three phases- batting, bowling and fielding we will cross the line. Absolutely sir, the scenes around the dressing room have been good. We are in a good phase now. We have a lot of character in the dressing room now and you need the courage to bounce back from those losses. Ahhh... Sir until my team is winning I don't think much about my batting. Felt that once we put the runs on the board, our spinners might come into play as there was no much dew on the ground as well.

Yeah, Suyash Sharma is a new guy for the big league. He is playing his 4th or 5th game in his first-ever season of the IPL. He has done well so far and is full of confidence. Whenever a tougher situation turns up, he lifts his hand up and says I will do the job for you captain. He has been brilliant. We also tell him to keep on bowling to his strengths and not worry about the players or batters he is bowling to. If he can keep bowling on hard lengths, he will trouble the batters irrespective of the stature of the batter."

11:26 PM IST: Time for the post-match presentation.
Varun Chakravarthy is the player of the match.
Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders): "For sure, we really needed that victory. You know we were under the pump for the last few games. But now this win makes us feel better, two points keep you happy. Batting first tonight, we know anything around 200 would be great. Scoreboard pressure is always good to have.

Our goal was to keep RCB under 55 in the powerplay but a couple of runs were given extra but we did well in the middle overs to pull it back. It doesn't matter whether you bat first or bat second. In the end, all it comes down to runs and the dew factor.

Once I get the ball, I try to do my best. I try to contribute in whatever way I can. Still confident with the bat but got a brilliant yorker from Siraj. We are taking game by game and day by day. So one game at a time for us. Recovery is very important. As I get older I need to get smarter with my body. Thank you very much"
Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore Captain): "To be honest, we handed over the game to them. We didn't deserve to win. We weren't professional tonight. We bowled decently but dropped too many chances. This is not ideal because we pride ourselves on the way we play. Today it was not good, to be honest. We didn't capitalize on the crunch moments. We dropped chances and that cost us 25-30 runs. While batting, there were too many soft dismissals. The balls were poor but we hit the fielders. We certainly don't see what was featured in the previous games. We look at the total and try to get across the line. We had one partnership and another would have taken us on the winning side. We have won one and lost one on the road. But if you win, it gives you a good chance to move forward."
11:11PM IST: The Royal Challengers Bangalore slump to their 4th loss of the season going down by 21 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. A brilliant performance from the full batting order except Andre Russell who paid off later with the ball later, propelled KKR to score 200 in their 20 overs.

The chase began well for Faf du Plessis (17 off 7) and Kohli as both the openers were hitting boundaries but as soon as spin was introduced in the game, things changed drastically as impact player Suyash Sharma (2/30) put in a stellar performance to send back Faf in his very first over and then Shahbaz Ahmed in quick succession.

Glenn Maxwell didn't click tonight with the bat and didn't bowl as he became Varun Chakravarthy's first wicket as the mystery spinner registered figures of 3/27. The powerplay was decent enough for RCB with Kohli standing at one end and the score at 58 for the loss of 3 wickets.

Mahipal Lomror (34 off 18) batting at number 5 put up a 53-run stand with Kohli who was watching his partners get out to spin and put some pressure on KKR but Varun struck in the 12th over removing the left hander. Virat Kohli fell in the very next over to Andre Russell but top scored with a brisk 54 in 37 balls.

There was nothing much left for the lower middle order as Russell (2/29) and the spinners kept picking wickets. Dinesh Karthik (22 in 18) showed some resistance and played some aggressive strokes but after losing Suyash Prabhudessai after a miscommunicated run, he was also sent back falling as the 8th man of RCB.

KKR has now jumped one rank up in the points table strengthening at the 7th position. RCB are at the fifth position and will be ruing on this loss where a chaseable total was left short by 21 runs.
