That brings an end to our coverage of yet another Big Bash season. We had a wonderful time bringing you all the action from this action-packed season. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Badal Pareek, Probuddha Bhattacharjee and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Tata. Bye Bye.
Ashton Turner and Adam Voges receive the trophy and a big roar from the Perth crowd. The rest of the players join for the photographs. The party begins in Perth. They pose behind the 'CHAMPIONS' board. Yes, they truly are the champions.
The Perth Scorchers receive their championship medals.
Jimmy Peirson (Brisbane Heat Skipper): "Firstly, thanks to the crowd for coming out. 50 thousand people is just amazing. Congratulations to the Scorchers. You have been the best team this season and congrats for the win boys. We have come a long way this time. There were plenty of ups and downs. Lost of positives and plenty of learnings. Well done to everyone and we will go again next year."
Ashton Turner (Player of the Match): "Look, it is a surreal feeling. I played a lot of games of cricket, but still, you don't know how it will pan out. Thanks a lot to the supporters; they have pained the city orange, and it has been an amazing feeling. Really exciting round of cricket, great teams win big games and fortunate to have done that today."
Ashton Turner is the Player of the Match in the Final.
Time for the post-match presentation.
Jason Behrendorff: "This one is unbelievable. To play in front of 50 thousand people is a great experience. I was nervous in the end. Cooper came out and swung hard and for a 19-year-old to do that was wonderful. We know he can do it. He knows he can do it. And now he has shown everyone that he can do it. We love playing with each other. We love playing at Perth. We just hope that we keep this consistency and keep performing."
Cooper Connolly: "Hobson was pretty good. He played some sensational strokes and things went my way. The crowd is fantastic. Today was the perfect opportunity for me to chip in. I have been in and out of the team and I’m really pleased to step up when the opportunity came."
AJ Tye: "Brisbane put on a decent score, but we did well to chase it down. What a game, what a crowd, amazing!!!! This is by far the best final for me. A couple of away finals I played, but this one is up there. The nerves settled for me at the beginning, and then I tried to concentrate on the line and length and doing the process right. Thank You!!!!"

Update 5:30 PM IST: Perth Scorchers are the CHAMPIONS of Big Bash League season 12. This is their fifth BBL title and they have successfully defended their title.

As far as the chase is concerned, Eskinazi and Bancroft started cautiously. They did pick up the scoring rate but in the fifth over they lost Eskinazi because of his schoolboy error. Things slowed down further and soon they were three down for 54 runs on the board.

Josh Inglis and skipper Ashton Turner now had the responsibility to bring them back on track. They were slow to get off the tracks but once they went after the bowlers, it rained sixes and fours. Turner scored a stunning half-century and was well supported by Inglis who waited for his time.

The pair stitched an invaluable partnership and were on course to help Perth lift back-to-back BBL titles. Perth needed 46 runs in the final four overs. This is when Inglis decided to change gears but his plans didn’t work as Bartlett managed to dismiss him for 26 off 22. In the 17th over of the game the tide turned in favor of Brisbane Heat, they lost Inglis and in a few balls time, Turner was run-out.

Connoly and Hobson now had a big task in their hand. Connoly smoked a few biggies and was on 19 off 7 balls in no time. They needed 20 runs off 12 balls. It went write down to wire as 10 runs were needed off the 5 balls. Hobson joined the party at the right time with a biggie and a four in the final over to hand the title to Perth Scorchers.

Earlier in the day, Brisbane Heat won the toss and elected to bat first. Jason Behrendorff started off with a sensational first over where he managed to get the edge of the blade thrice but didn't have a wicket to show for it. Josh Brown was off to a flyer but in the final ball of the second over he departed after scoring 25 runs.

Heats got a great start with 41 runs on the board after 5 overs. Post that the scoring did drop for a while but once again they manage to pick the rate up. Out of the top 6 batters, 5 of them got starts but none of them managed to get a big score on the board.

In the final two overs, they failed to get going and ended up scoring 175 runs. Had they finished it off with a flyer it could have been an even better total but the six in the final delivery did help their cause.

Overall, it was a great final that ended in the final over with fireworks.

19.3 M Neser to N Hobson
4nb That's it. The Scorchers have done it. They have gone back-to-back and absolute mad scenes at the Perth Stadium. The crowd is loving this and the players run out to the middle. This was a high full toss outside off, Hobson slices it over the short third man fielder and the ball runs away to the fence. The Scorchers beat Heat by five wickets to win their fifth BBL title.
19.2 M Neser to N Hobson
6 SIXXXX!!!! Neser misses his mark and gets dispatched into the stands. A big roar from the Perth Crowd. Neser attempts a yorker but overcooks it as he bowls a full toss and Hobson hoicks it over the mid wicket fence for a maximum.
19.1 M Neser to C Connolly
1 Neser starts the last over with a low full toss and Connolly hits it along the ground towards long on for a single. 9 from 5 now.
10 runs are needed off 6 balls here. The Title race is down to final six-ball here.
Heat will have to bring an extra man inside the circle for the last over as they haven't completed their overs in time.

Falls in no man's land and they get another double.
18.6 S Johnson to N Hobson
2 In the air and safe. Shorter in length outside off, Hobson throws his hands at it and gets it over covers. The fielder chases after it and keeps it inside the ropes. Keeps it two.
