Player Bio

Just like Marnus Labuschagne, Michael Neser was also born in South Africa and moved to the Gold Coast along with his family when he was 10. He was a natural talent and went on to make a name in age-group cricket in Australia. It was in the 2008-09 season that Nesser was included in the Queensland U 19 side. Nesser has always been a skiddy customer with the ball and has the ability to move the ball both ways at pace.

He can also tonk a few lusty blows during the death overs. Despite making his debut in the Sheffield Shield in 2010-11 and playing the Ryobi Cup, Nesser never really managed to cement his place in the side as injuries continued to stall the progress of his career. He had a good time with the ball in the 2013-14 BBL and was picked up in Australia A squad to play South Africa A in four-day matches.

Nesser continued to impress for Queensland in the domestic circuit and was instrumental in Queensland’s triumphant campaign in the 2017-18 Shield game. Finally, his good work paid off as Nesser was included in the Australian squad for the 2018 ODI tour of England. He made his debut at the Oval and played a couple of matches in the series.

Nesser was picked in the A squad for the tour of India in two four-day games and got an opportunity in the Australian Test squad for the tour of UAE against Pakistan. He didn’t make his debut and returned to the domestic fold again and yet again impressed with his consistency. He had a great time with the bat and made 481 runs coming at the lower middle order. He also had a great time with the ball bagging 33 wickets in the season.
