That brings curtains to the coverage for this game. This is me, Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentator Tugral Azmi and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
Liam Hatcher | Player of the Match: "It was nice to get those two wickets upfront. We were keen to get wickets in the middle and it was a nice wicket to bowl on. There was some moisture underneath and we used a number of cross-seam deliveries tonight. From Shield cricket bowling 25 overs to getting here, it was a smooth transition. We are still positive coming into the game tonight. If we win our remaining five games, we have a chance. One down and four more to go. We go to Marvel for the reverse fixture and will look to step up."
Liam Hatcher is named the Player of the Match.
04:32 PM IST | Akshay: A convincing victory for the Melbourne Stars in front of their home crowd as they beat the Adelaide Strikers by nine wickets. With this, they grab their third win of the competition and get back to winning ways. The Strikers were completely outplayed tonight and suffer their fifth loss of this edition of BBL.

Chasing a modest total, the Stars got off to a fantastic start. Joe Clarke and Thomas Rogers took on the bowling from the word go and scored 40 at the end of the powerplay. Both played some beautiful strokes as the Strikers didn’t have any answers to the onslaught from the Stars’ openers. Both put up 50 between them in no time.

Ryan Gibson’s direct hit at the non-striker’s end helped the Strikers break the 77-run opening stand. Clarke departed on a 28-ball 35 and it was the only positive for the Strikers as the Stars cruised past the target in the 15th over. Rogers and Hilton Cartwright remained unbeaten on 51 and 16 respectively as they chased down the total comfortably to win the game by nine wickets.

Earlier, Adam Zampa, Melbourne Stars skipper won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Strikers got off to a flying start as Matthew Short scored 20 runs in the opening over. His departure in the second over meant that the Stars got an opening. They kept picking wickets at regular intervals and put the Strikers under the pump.

Harry Nielsen, coming in at six, held the innings nicely for the visitors but lacked support from the other end. The southpaw scored 40 off 33 balls before getting cleaned up in the 17th over. The Strikers lose their way after his dismissal as they got bundled out on 108 in the last over. Nathan Coulter-Nile bowled brilliantly for the Stars and finished with figures of 3/17 in his four overs. Liam Hatcher and Zampa also chipped in with a couple of scalps as they restricted the Strikers to a low total.
14.3 B Manenti to H Cartwright
4 FOUR!!! Hilton Cartwright finishes things in style. Manenti drops it short and Cartwright rocks back and pulls it hard over mid wicket for a boundary. With this, the Melbourne Stars beat the Adelaide Strikers by nine wickets with 33 balls to spare.
14.2 B Manenti to H Cartwright
0 Flatter on the pads, Cartwright looks to flick it but misses and wears it high on the pads.
14.1 B Manenti to T Rogers
1 Short on the pads, Rogers flicks it in the leg side for a single.

13.6 H Thornton to H Cartwright
0 Back of a length delivery around off, Cartwright looks to pull it but misses.
13.5 H Thornton to H Cartwright
4 FOURRR!! Cartwright is taking the attack now. Length delivery, a hint of away movement. He goes across the line and pulls that one hard over the mid-off fielder to the long-on boundary fence for four runs.
13.4 H Thornton to H Cartwright
0 An angler away outside off, Cartwright drops it down the pitch quite comfortably.
Maiden BBL fifty for Thomas Rogers. This has been an outstanding knock from the youngster and acknowledges the applause by raising his bat.
13.3 H Thornton to T Rogers
1 Angling into the leg peg, Rogers tucks it to the square leg region for a single. He brings up his maiden BIG BASH fifty...!!!
13.2 H Thornton to T Rogers
4 FOURRR!! Rogers is on 49*. Fuller delivery, shaping away outside off. He stands still and lofts that one over the infield to the deep extra cover region for a boundary. A couple of bounces and clears the fence.
13.1 H Thornton to T Rogers
0 Thornton is back into the attack. A touch fuller on the off, Rogers has driven this hard, but can't beat the man at mid-off.
