See you all tomorrow for another nail bitter. It was great pressure bringing you the final of the Women's T20 Challenge. This was me, Arjun Bhalla with my co-commentator Akshay Bhide. We will be signing off on the account of OneCricket. Adios!
With one final summing up. We all are heading up to the grand finale of the Indian Premier League. It is going to be a heck of a match between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and the first-time finalist Delhi Capitals.
Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah present the Trophy of the Women's T20 Challenge to Trailblazer skipper Smriti Mandhana and she gives the trophy to her teammates.
Smriti Mandhana | Winning skipper | Player of the Match: The first one two months of the lockdown was good to spend time with the family. But I think in the last three-four months we got time to go out and start hitting some balls. It was a good time for all of us to go back and work on ourselves which we don't get usually. My wicket was crucial because this wicket was tough to bat on. The set batsman needed to bat on, 140 was quite achievable and this is what I need to work on in finishing innings. I just told the girls that these are the last 20 overs of the tournament. Because of the covid situation we don't know when we'll come out next, so we wanted to give it our all. It was a hard wicket to bat on and we had quality spinners. 135 would have been ideal but nevertheless 118 was good on this wicket. This experience was amazing to go out in the nets with the overseas players and our youngsters, It was nice to exchange knowledge and cultures to see how cricket is played in their countries. It was nice for the youngsters to be able to bowl to players like Dottin before being selected into the national side.
The President and the Treasurer of the BCCI hand the cheque of 25 Lakh INR to the winning skipper of the Women's T20 Challenge.
Radha Yadav | Player of the series: It feels great to pick a fifer, but isn't nice to not be on the winning side. It was a spinning track and the plan was to bowl the normal stock ball. I worked very hard on my bowling in the lockdown, and I think it shows. I was playing consistently even in the lockdown and I was in touch, so it didn't feel like I was coming back after a long time.
Radha Yadav wins the Player of the Series Award for her 8 wickets in the Women's T20 Challenge.
Smriti Mandhana bags the Player of the Match.
Unacadmeny #LetsCrackIt Super Sixes Award goes to Smriti Mandhana.
Smriti Mandhana bags the Altroz Super Striker of the Match.
Radha Yadav takes the Dream11 Game Changer of the Match.
Radha Yadav takes the Rising Star of the Match Award.
Harmanpreet Kaur: It's not that bad [the injury] but it's a great learning for us. It wasn't that tough a total to chase, but we didn't get any partnerships. You need at least two good partnerships. It was very difficult, because I got hurt while fielding. I tried my best, but it wasn't enough in the end. Sitting at home was very difficult, we have to respect whatever conditions are going on. We have to be very particular and be safe, whether we are playing or not.
Deandra Dottin: Feels great and it's good to be here. I'm playing this league for the first time and to win the trophy is awesome. To be honest, I was struggling a bit, but standing and watching Smriti bat was really good, she was hitting the ball really well.
This was a great bowling effort from the Trailblazers' bowling attack. Jhulan, Sophie, Rajeshwari. All of them were economical at the start but Deepti Sharma and Salma Khatun brought back Trailblazers in the game. Deepti took two wickets in her 3 overs at an economy of just 3 rpo. Salma took 3 for 18 in her 4 overs. Sophie Ecclestone also got a wicket in her four overs.
Jhulan Goswami: The plan was to bowl wicket-to-wicket. We knew the wicket was keeping low, so we had to keep it within the stumps. We had that plan and we were able to execute it well. [On speaking with Ecclestone] I can tell you in the dressing room. I was just telling her to keep it within the stumps. The more you give width, the easier it gets for the batters. The rest I can tell you later. [On Chantam] She speaks the most in the dressing room. She's a great character, and she's got great energy. She's always got a smile on her face, and it's great to share a dressing room with a player from Thailand. It was a great honour. We would like to thank her for this opportunity.
Harleen Deol: We had lost by a close margin last time around. This time we wanted to beat them. We had simple plans. We didn't want to complicate it too much. We had played against them before. The wicket was keeping a little low and was slow.
Sophie Ecclestone: I think it was a great win, we are a great team and we showed our true potential. Nothing better to have than two (Dottin and Mandhana) of the best openers in the world. It's amazing to be bowling with these great bunch of girls.
Supernovas had a new duo in. Skipper Harman and Sri Lankan Veteran Siriwardene were in and building a partnership for the defending champions. The fourth wicket fell at the score of 74 runs in Siriwardene. After her wicket, SM and her company were all over the defending team. Soon, Anuja and Harman too fell short in the chase and the total of mere 118 runs was a mountain for Supernovas who ended the 20 overs on the score of 102 for the loss of seven wickets,
Jemimah along with the in-form Superstar Chamari Athapaththu opens the batting for Supernovas. Jhulan Goswami started with some tidy lengths in the first over and the World No 1 bowler captivates on it by providing the first breakthrough in the form of Athapaththu. After that, came the wicketkeeper-batter Taniya Bhatia in at No. 3. She with Jemimah tries to steady the ship of Supernovas but the wicketkeeper falls in the seventh over. Supernovas had a small total but no batter was applying to the conditions. Jemimah got out while attacking, all thanks to the stunning catch by Chantam at the cover-point.
