That is the coverage of the tournament of Global t20 Canada. For now, this is me Aditya Agarwal signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Ayan Chatterjee, who, alongside our scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer brought you all the live action of this fixture. We will meet again. Until then, cheers!
Captain Colin Munro collects the trophy and takes it to his teammates. The celebrations begin in their camp and deservingly so.
Colin Munro ( Captain, Toronto Nationals) - "I think full credit to our guys. They have worked really hard and haven been with each other through hard times as well. Winning against the best 2 teams in the tournament is always a big boost of confidence for the side. Nicholas Kirton stepped up for our side at quite a few times and we won the trophy for him. Our owner has given us much freedom and given us confidence where it was needed."
Chris Lynn (Montreal Tigers Captain): "Yes, very difficult. Win the toss and win the game it has been. This loss does not define what we have played this season. I think they played well and Jason bowled really well out there. Yes, we missed them but there is no excuse from our end. We have played well and would have liked to win the trophy but it wasn't meant to be for us. We tried and lots of positives to take us for this season."
Junaid Siddique ( Player of the Tournament) - " Last year we missed on our chances to win the trophy. But we turned it around for this time and won the title. I am fond of bowling yorkers, but I worked on bowling on different areas and happy that it worked."
Player of the Tournament: Junaid Siddique.
Emerging Player from Canada: Dilpreet Bajwa.
Orange Cap: George Munsey.
Bowler of the Tournament: Romario Shepherd.
The momentos are being presented to all the match officials.
Jason Behrendorff (Player of the Match): "Yes, bowling is fun. Love playing cricket and the boys pulled it well together. I was in Sri Lanka to go back home but then got a call up to play here. I was happy to get a good start for the team. Always looking to hit the stumps and swing it back to the right-handers. That is my aim. It's all about momentum and we have wrestled that momentum in the last two games. Glad that my family supported me and my wife is my biggest supporter. Happy with the win and my contribution to it."
Player of the Match -  Jason Behrendorff
Time for the presentations!
The Toronto Nationals camp has made a complete circle in the outfield and is dancing along!
Andries Gous (Toronto Nationals): "Yes we started well with the ball and got over the line in the end. I got hit earlier and there was a dropped catch. Had to do it for the team. We had to be switched on and we were up for it today. Happy to get the win. Have to catch a flight tomorrow morning. So, let's see how the celebrations pan out."
02:52 AM IST and 05:22 PM Local Time | Toronto Nationals win the match by 8 wickets remaining and are the crowned champions of Global T20 Canada 2024, clinching the title for the first time. They beat the defending champions Montreal Tigers in a one-sided affair!

Put into bat by the Toronto Nationals, Montreal Tigers got off to a horrible start as they were on a score of 28 for the loss of 5 wickets.

They kept losing at regular intervals and were 42-7 at one stage.

Corbin Bosch then played a lone hand and batted with the tail and helped them to crawl to a total of 96 on the back of his knock of 35 runs off 33 balls.

Jason Behrendorff was his team's star bowler, giving away just 8 runs and taking 3 wickets. Romario Shepherd, from the other end, equally supported him, picking up 2 wickets.

Chasing 97, Toronto Nationals lost both their openers early inside the first 12 balls and were in a spot of bother.

Rassie van der Dussen then came in at 4 and put up a match winning 85* run partnership with Andries Gous to get their team over the line and clinch the title for the first time. They win by 8 wickets remaining and 30 balls to spare.

Stay tuned for the presentations!
