Charith Asalanka (Sri Lanka Captain): "I was pretty happy with the score we got on this track. I felt 240 was good enough.

It's good to have these kind of problems. I think it was an unbelievable spell from him. When he came into the attack, they were above 90 runs.

I'm mainly a batsman to score runs for my side. But happy to bowl a few overs for my side."
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): "When you lose a game everything hurts. Its not about the death overs. We need to play consistent cricket and we failed to do that today. Disappointed but these things happen.

You gotta adapt to what's in front of you. With left-right we felt it will be slightly easier to rotate strike but it didn't happen credit to Jeffrey. Credit to Sri Lanka they played better than us and ended up on the winning side.

Not really disappointed with my dismissal. The reason I got runs was the way I batted. Risks are bound to be taken and that is how I want to bat. Whenever you get out doesn't matter the score you always feel disappointed when you don't cross the line. I don't want to compromise my intent. Its helping me and the team to a certain extent.

We do understand the nature of this surface and the nature of how the game is gonna go as well. It gets really tough in the middle overs so need to capitalize the powerplay when there are 2 fielders outside. That's what both openers were trying to do. We were not just good enough today to get 240 runs. We have played good in the past so I don't want to look too much into how we played today but there will be certainly a talk about how to bat in the middle overs."
Jeffrey Vandersay (Player of the Match): "Thank you very much. I want to grace the Lord first for this performance. There was a lot of pressure coming into the side. I was coming off a lay-off. I had to do something. It's easy to take the credit but I want to give the credit to the batters for playing the way they did and taking us to that total. It allowed me to bowl in that way.

No doubt, Wanindu Hasaranga is the number one spinner. I got to understand of the selection and the team balancing and all that. I had to keep motivating myself. If that is required to play for the nation, I will do that.

I tried to do the basics right. I had to bowl in the good lines and lengths. When I got the first wicket, it built my confidence.

(On celebration) Like I said, it's all God."

Kamindu Mendis: "Yeah, it was a good match. So, I think our team did really well in all three departments. The energy in the field was good. We supported our captain who took the right decisions.

When I was going in the middle, I thought 210-215 will be a good score. But in the end, we got 240. Credit to Wellalage as well.

I was working hard on my fielding. We had to get those half-chances in the game if we wanted to win it.

After the T20Is, we got together and we decided some plans. We executed our plans really well."

9:57 PM: The Sri Lankan lions script a massive 32-run win against a strong Indian side at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Jeffrey Vandersay returning to the playing XI starred with 6/33 to help the side defend 240.

Winning the toss yet again, Sri Lanka elected to bat first and posted 240/9 with Washington Sundar (3/30) teaming up with Kuldeep Yadav (2/33) in what looked like a sufficient score for India to chase.

India started extremely well Rohit Sharma hitting a quickfire 44-ball-64 with 5 fours and 4 sixes adding 97 for the first wicket with Shubman Gill (35 off 44) in just 13.3 overs. Jeffrey Vandersay joining the attack removed Sharma, Gill then Shivam Dube who was promoted at number 4 and failed to open his account.

Axar Patel joined Virat Kohli at number 5 but former India skipper was trapped by Vandersay for 14 in 19 balls, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul heading back in the hut soon with Vandersay picking the first 6 wickets to fall in the Indian innings.

Axar Patel had fellow left hander Washington Sundar in a 38-run stand for the 7th wicket. Skipper Charith Asalanka, hero of the previous match returned with the ball to dismiss Axar after the left hander scored a counterattacking 44 in as many deliveries.

Sliding down at number 8 from 4, Sundar gobbled 40 deliveries but could manage just 15 runs without a boundary. Asalanka removed Axar, Sundar and then Mohammed Siraj to send India rom 97/0 to 201/9 with Arshdeep Singh running himself out with 33 needed in 47 balls.

Sri Lanka have got an unassailable 1-0 lead in the three-match series as they defended 230 in the series opener that finished in a tie. India can only level the series if they manage to win the final game to be played at the same venue on Wednesday.

W RUN OUT AT THE STRIKER'S END! IT'S ALL OVER! A good length delivery skidding off the surface. Kuldeep plays and misses, so does Kusal Mendis. Arshdeep calls for a quick bye despite the slip fielder chasing the ball inside the ring not far from the keeper. Throw is flat in Kusal's gloves as he takes the bails off in a flash. Arshdeep nowhere near the crease. Sri Lanka have successfully defended 240, winning the 2nd ODI by 32 runs!
42.1 C Asalanka to A Singh
1 Around the wicket. 86 kph. Length outside the off stump. Worked off the backfoot to deep midwicket for 1.
