Well that's the end of the T20 Blast 2024 Season and we have had a new champion this year as Gloucestershire have won their Maiden T20 Blast Title. It was a one sided final to be honest which was dominated by Gloucestershire.

For now, this is Pritam Dey signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Akshay Bhide who along with scorer/analyst Raju Khariya brough all the actions of this T20 Blast 2024 Final. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world. Tata Bye ByeπŸ‘‹πŸΌ
Jack Taylor is now been handed over the T20 Blast 2024 Trophy and he lifts it along with his teammates as the fireworks go on in the background. Terrific scenes as Gloucestershire win a trophy after 9 long years.
Jack Taylor (Gloucestershire Captain): "What a day. Didn't need to strap on the pads today. Happy to get the win and really special this one.

We have a strong belief in the group. We don't have international stars but we believe in ourselves. To go out there and play like that and come out victorious was incredible.

(On left-arm seamers) They have done it throughout the whole campaign. They are close to 60 wickets I think. We had two complete bowling performances and we did well to back that in the field.

(On Cameron Bancroft) Massive. Bancroft has played with us in all formats this year. He's incredible. We had a tough few years but just the reward for the boys in the change room and the fans.

The fans have done that in the last week in the quarter-finals and we appreciate it. Can't thank enough.

(On club's president) He's a massive part of the club and we are with him. To win for him, it's great. What an amazing day.

(On head coach) He's just given the guys the trust. Keeping it simple and giving them the belief to play with freedom. That's really worked for us."
Lewis Gregory (Somerset Captain): "We didnt get enough runs to be honest (laughs). Well hats off to them really, kept picking up wickets in regular intervals and we are disappointed not to get going really with the ball. We knew it would be tough to defend a low cross.

(On James Rew) Yeah its obviously a shame not to have Banton part of our side but Rew was brilliant for us. Its his first game for us in a pretty difficult situation but I think he will improve going forward.

Yeah this is not the end for us as we have two more trophies coming up on the ranks and will look to bounce back as a unit."
Matt Taylor (Player of the Final): "Pretty speechless to be honest. Over the moon for this group of guys. Unbelievable.

It's my first finals day and I didn't imagine in my head. Pretty special how it panned out.

Payney is always someone I looked forward to. He kept giving me tips on how to succeed.

Just try to be unpredictable. Read the pitch and use the odd slower balls.

Our first run last week was great. It gave us the idea coming into this game. No idea about the celebrations to be honest. We'll see."
Player of the Final: Matt Taylor
David Payne (Player of the Year): "Yeah this ranks right up there and it will take time to sink in to be honest. Yeah I probably never felt better, I made a very brave decision at the end of the season last year to focus on white ball cricket and its probably the best decision I have ever made.

Yeah, I think bowling at the powerplay with a better body and fresher mind, being able to give my 110% for my side and winning games for my side is an amazing. Yeah I have been part of this team for 15 years now and it feels amazing to finally win a trophy.

Yeah it is really amazing to see so many quality bowlers stepping up as a unit. Matt Taylor has always been on my toes and all the rest of them to be honest. Really happy with the result at the end of the day."
Player of the Year: David Payne
Most wickets in the history of T20 Blast:

Danny Briggs – 248

Samit Patel – 218

David Payne – 193

Chris Wood – 191

Tom Smith - 188
Mark Alleyne (Gloucestershire Head Coach): β€œThat was awesome. In our first game today, our bowling and fielding was very good. In the second game, the boys responded brilliantly.

The guys needed the love and the belief that they can do. I don’t often reflect on too back. The game has evolved and I try to stay with the pace of it. Try to keep the guys calm and give them the belief to execute their plans.

Payne has been incredible with the new ball. Picking up wickets consistently with the new ball.

Winning trophies in this country is not easy. There are very good teams out there. It’s great for the club and lads. It has been a long time coming this one.

For the players, I don’t want to show much. I want to stay levelled and happy to get the win.”
Miles Hammond: "It has been a weird run but we have been awesome throughout the season and have played some exceptional cricket so really proud of ourselves.

To be fair, I reckon we dropped a few catches at crucial occasions in the group stages but I think if we had caught them, we would have had a better season. Never mind, happy to win it at the end."
01:50 AM IST & 9:20 PM Local Time| That's the end of the Final of the T20 Blast 2024 and it was a one sided encounter as Gloucestershire are champions of the T20 Blast 2024 defeating Somerset by 8 wickets. The entire team sprint onto the field and hug the two batters, especially Miles Hammond who played a terrific knock.

Earlier in the day, Somerset were put into bat by Jack Taylor. The Defending Champions did got off to a flying start with the bat. Will Smeed was the first to be dismissed by Gloucestershire and Matt Taylor who gets rid of both the openers in his opening over. The quickfire knock from TKC did not last long as he was dismissed for 21.

In-form James Rew was sent back to the pavilion for just 6 in the final delivery of the powerplay as Somerset were in an early trouble at 41/3 after 6 overs. Post the powerplay wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals for Somerset.

It required a captains knock at the crucial time and Lewis Gregory (53 off 37) delivered. He was falling short of partners at the other end as the Player of the Match in the Semi-Final game, Sean Dickson was sent back to the pavilion for a Golden Duck. Just 3 double digit scores in the Innings with the Skipper being the top scorer. Somerset were bundled out for 124 with 2 balls to spare in the Innings.

David Payne (3/27) and Matt Taylor (3/18) were the pick of the bowlers for Gloucestershire who were brilliant with the ball. Some smart captaincy from Jack Taylor has lead to a successful performance with the ball for Gloucestershire who had to chase down 125 runs in their 20 overs to win the T20 Blast 2024 for the first time.

In reply, it was a one horse race for Gloucestershire as the openers got their side to a really good start with the bat. They ended the powerplay at 49/0 and were in cruise control of the game. Post the powerplay, the spinners of Somerset could not get the breakthrough as both the opening batters enjoyed their time at the middle and continued playing their shots.

Cameron Bancroft at the end was the first to be dismissed for 53 against the run of play but it was way too late for Somerset to make a comeback in the game. James Bracey got a lifeline a ball before after surviving a run out but was dismissed next delivery for just 2. Miles Hammond batted throughout the Innings and was unbeaten on 58 as he watches his partner, Oliver Price hit the winning runs in style with the Maximum to get Gloucestershire their Maiden T20 Blast title.

The players from the dugout sprinted into the field and hugged both the batters after which they went towards the Gloucestershire stand to celebrate with the families and friends. An incredible moment for the Jack Taylor-led side who are champions of the T20 Blast 2024.
