Milestone
That's it from our coverage of this MLC season 2 opener between MI New York and Seattle Orcas. The defending champions were just too good for last year's runners-up as they start their title defense with a thumping six-wicket win.

I'm Ajay Pal Singh, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Anirudh Modi and scorer/analyst Ghanendra Singh Thakur. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from all around the world.
Kieron Pollard (MI New York Captain): "Well played to the guys, we won the toss and we knew the heat was gonna be tough on the bowlers but I thought they responded very well. We have only 2-3 additions from the last year and it really helps as to how we want to play the game and everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.

There are quality batters on the other side as well, when you have a good day it comes off. Well done to the management for giving us such a balanced squad. The new generation is playing really well and long that may continue. We expect a lot of things from Nicky P and we hope he keeps playing the way he is. 24 hours and we are back playing, so let's hope we win."
Heinrich Klaasen (Seattle Orcas Captain): "I enjoyed the challenge. It is nothing more to stay about it. It was a little bit slow and we lost a couple of wickets inside the powerplay.

Not too bad, the bowlers bowled to their skills but Pooran batted well. The boys put up a good fight. I never thought we would win this without bowling them out. They bowled well and we fell short with the bat.

Everyone is gelling well into the team. Looking forward to a good game in the next match."
Nicholas Pooran (Most Valuable Player): "It's nice to get a win and taking responsibility for the team. The guys were wonderful in the powerplay and Rashid came in and weaved his magic. A total team effort and everyone contributed to the win today, perfect start of us.

Scoring runs is important but it is about understanding my matchups and back myself. Not everyday is gonna be my day but it is my job to contribute to the best of my abilities."
Most Valuable Player: Nicholas Pooran
Power-Hitter: Nicholas Pooran
Play of the Day: Rashid Khan
Time for the post match presentation ceremony..
Trent Boult (MI New York): "Came here to get a job done and the boys performed well. It's a new competition but it is a ground we are familiar with and as a group we bowled well and restricted them to a low score.

Nicky P is a legend, he bats well, keeps wicket nicely and wins the game. Conditions are pretty similar to last year and the boys really played well today."
4:17 AM IST & 6:47 PM Local Time: The defending champions MI New York start their title defense with a thumping win over last year's runners-up Seattle Orcas. They get over the line with 34 balls to spare, the biggest win in terms of balls remaining in MLC's history. Nicholas Pooran was again the leader with the bat for MI New York, scoring an unbeaten half-century.

Earlier in the match, Kieron Pollard won the toss and invited Seattle Orcas to bat first. Trent Boult picked up two wickets in two overs and then Rashid Khan also did the same to broke the back of Seattle's batting.

Boult and Rashid one more wicket to their column in the death overs, finishing with three scalps each. Pollard got two while Ehas Adil and Anrich Nortje picked up one wicket each.

Shubham Ranjane (35) and Harmeet Singh (20) were the only notable contributors with the bat as Seattle were bowled out for 108.

In reply, MI New York also lost two quick wickets. Ruben Clinton and Monank Patel got out cheaply.

Nicholas Pooran then got going and made unbeaten 62 off 37. He was well-supported by Tim David first and then Polllard, who came in to provide the finishing touches to the chase. Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
