So, that’s it from the coverage. South Africa women go one up in the T20I series after losses in the ODIs and Test. This is Arijit Kundu, signing off along with co-commentators, Akshay Bhide, AkshayaKrishna Polya, and scorer Bishal Mondal. There’s plenty of cricket going around in this network. Make sure to stay tuned in.
Tazmin Brits (Player of the Match): "I don't think I can actually explain that. I may have scored runs, but not too happy with myself. I struggled at the start. Then had to adapt, thinking that I was putting more pressure on Laura and Marizanne coming in.

Yeah, got a bit of a cramp (on the injury update) going on in my leg. Hopefully, I can rest and get back for the next game.  It’s always great. My tour hasn’t been great, with the ODIs, and had to sit in the Test. I think our team is capable of victories like this."
Player of the Match: Tazmin Brits
Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa Women Captain): "It's much nicer to get the win. Really special after coming off the tough few weeks. But it was a tough Test match and happy with the reward we got tonight.

Not too upset to bat first in the end. But our bowlers did really well to keep fighting till the end and get the win.

We will have the discussion with the coaching staff and decide what to do in the next match if it is going to be played on the same wicket.

Cricket is a funny game. But I'm really happy with the intent with which we came in while batting. We did well to put them under pressure and keep scoring at a good rate to get to that total."
Smart Saver of the Match: Sinalo Jafta
Great Strike of the Match: Tazmin Brits
Gamechanger of the Match: Tazmin Brits
Harmanpreet Kaur (India Captain): "Yeah definitely, we didn't play good cricket overall. While fielding also, we dropped too many chances. In batting also, we played too many dot balls in the middle overs phase. Definitely, they bowled well.

They did not give us easy runs. But I think because of the dot balls, we lost it. I think we can ball accordingly and while batting also, we need to think accordingly to the situation and bat that way. Together, we will sit and discuss what could be the best decision."
10:29 PM IST, Local Time: Time for the post-match presentation.
This is South Africa's highest T20I total against India.
Highest aggregate in India Women vs South Africa Women T20Is:

366 in Chennai, 2024 - TONIGHT

332 in Potchefstroom, 2018

317 in Lucknow, 2021

286 in East London, 2018

278 in Cape Town, 2018
Marizanne Kapp: "(On first win on this tour) It obviously took a longer than we would have liked. But good to get it with the World Cup around the corner.

(On playing innovative shots) I don’t really know. I have put those away for some reason. Tonight, it worked for me.

We have been speaking a lot about being positive. We have been doing it in the nets but for some reason, when we go out there in the middle, we are being conservative. Good to see the batters play with a positive intent tonight.

I’m close to bowling. I have been nursing a back injury but I’m close to bowling.

Brits struggled at the start but she did well to get back. That’s the thing about team sport. When things aren’t going your way, you just take time before you get back in rhythm."
10:18 PM IST, Local Time: The first win for South Africa in this India tour, across formats. While Harmanpreet pats Jemimah's head, the South African side has ecstasy written in their eyes. A 12-run victory and the Proteas Women are 1-0 up.

In reply to a 190-run chase, India got off to a good start like their opponents, building a fifty-plus partnership for the first wicket inside the powerplay. The return of Ayabonga Khaka in the sixth over led to Shafali Verma’s fall of wickets. With Dayalan Hemalatha striking around run-a-ball despite an early boundary, pressure crept on Smriti Mandhana. Ultimately, Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk had their fair share of wickets in the tenth and eleventh over. The spinners and medium pacers checked the Indian side to a certain extent before Jeminah started to extract boundaries. Harmanpreet Kaur played second fiddle to her as the Mumbai-bred steered India tk 143/3 in 17 overs. Subsequently, eight runs came off a brilliant 18th over off  Nadine before a couple of fours and a six from Jemimah reduced the equation to 21 needed off 6 balls. Although  Harmanpreet hit a four on the first ball of the last over, she failed to steer the side past the finishing line. The ploy to bring the spinner for the last over yielded sweet fruits for the visitors as South Africa beat India by 12 runs.

Earlier, India's decision to field first after winning the toss did not pay dividends as Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits opted for a measured approach inside the field restrictions. Following a 44-run powerplay, Radha Yadav cleaned up the skillet before Marizanne Kapp and Brits consolidated for a 96-run second wicket partnership. Despite struggling early, the opener switched gears with Kapp joining the party for the most of the innings. Radha struck once again in the 17th over by outsmarting Kapp for 57. In the same over, Brits whacked her for a couple of sixes. Although a couple of wickets fell in the last over. South African middle overs did enough to get 189 runs on the board.

W WICKET!!! STUMPED!!! There's the victory for the South Africa Women. First on this tour. Mlaba bowls an off-break on the slower side outside off, Kaur dances down the track but fails to get to the pitch of the ball. She swings hard at it but misses it completely. Jafta behind the stumps fumbles while collecting it but recovers in time and whips the bails to dismiss Kaur on the final ball of the match.
So, a win for South Africa now. Brilliant from the Proteas and this will be their first win in the tour.
