Player Bio

A right-handed wicket-keeper batter, Tazmin Brits represents the South Africa women’s team in the ODI and T20 formats of the game.

Prior to cricket, the Klerksdorp-born was a javelin Thrower and represented her nation at the 2007 World Youth Championship.

Britz switched to cricket post-2012 and worked hard for 6 years before making her international debut in 2018. She was drafted into the squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh and made her T20I debut in the second T20I of the series. The useful batter made a run-a-ball 10 as South Africa won the match convincingly.

Prior to her debut, Brits captained the South Africa Emerging Players Women’s squad to face Australia.

The stumper narrowly missed the cut for the 2020 T20 World Cup, but she went back to the domestic circuit and performed heavily, and was the leading run-scorer in the Provisional T20 competition. She was adjudged the Provisional Cricketer of the Year in 2020.

In January 2021, the North West Province based cricketer earned her maiden ODI call-up in the series against Pakistan. She had a disappointing debut, making just 4 runs in her only ODI to date.

From a javelin thrower to a cricket player, Brits has come a long way in her cricketing journey. A late bloomer, Brits has all the tools to succeed at the highest level.
