Milestone
Time to conclude our coverage from this high scoring encounter, Trinbago Knight Riders have started their season with a victory. For now, this is Saptak Sanyal signing off on behalf of my colleagues Ajay Pal Singh and Ashok Dayma.
Kieron Pollard(Trinbago Knight Riders Captain): "I am just happy that we executed our plans. Pooran is afantastic player, he is a world class player. The way he guided Carty and helped him to go big was commendable and that impressed me a lot.

This a good batting wicket and we have a lot of power hitters batting deep. For us, we expected to go 60 or 70 in the powerplay and we tried to take the spin on after the fielder was spread. I am impressed with my youngsters. The way Edward bowled to Lewis in the start was bad but he came back really well. They are going to help the country. It is tough to comment on a bowler by watching 2-3 overs but as an ex-West Indies Captain, I can see them as a couple of promising guys."
Andre Fletcher (St Kitts & Nevis Patriots Captain): "Execution with the ball wasn't that well. We knew there was the wind factor. Not taking away anything from Pooran, how he played was amazing. He played well. He took the game away from us.

We lost but we had some positives as well. Finding ways to contain him. Carty played a good supporting role. We had some dropped chances. Hopefully, in the next game, we can do better.  When we went out, I told the guys they did it and we can as well.

Unfortunately, we didn't get over the line. We all know what Louis can do. He was a little nervous, sensing the big crowd that has come to see him. I told him to look at the positive and just entertain the people. He played a fantastic knock. I am happy for him."
Nicholas Pooran (Player of the Match): "I think it is definitely a good innings. It was a good pitch and small boundaries. We knew they have a dangerous batting line-up. 250 on that surface gave us the chance.

Yeah as a batter, coming to St Kitts, you knew you have to start well in the powerplay. It was important for me after the powerplay to keep going. I was happy that Keacy and I can get a partnership going. We know it is a small ground and I felt, we played that partnership and that is highlight for me.

I have been playing cricket for a long time now. I am getting consistency because I understand who I want to be as a player. I want to win games, I want to win tournaments. CPL is something I want to win, if I get the opportunity I want to bat and bat well."

08:15 IST and 22:45 Local Time | Trinbago Knight Riders have registered a victory to kickstart their campaign by 44 runs against the home side St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.

TKR were off to a solid start as Sunil Narine went berserk at the SKNP bowlers. Narine scored 38 runs from 19 balls with 3 fours and 4 maximums but Jason Roy failed to contribute as he got out for 5. But Nicholas Pooran and Keacy Carty held the chase forward and registered a 122-run partnership between them in just 59 legal balls. Nicholas Pooran was playing par excellence as he took on the SKNP pacers. He scored 97-run from just 43 balls. He hit 7 fours and 9 maximums to decorate his innings. But when he was on the cusp of his third CPL hundred, he found Drakes at point off Nortje. However, Keacy Carty continued his good going and finished scoring 73 runs from 35 balls with 9 fours and 3 maximums. He finished the innings with a maximum and that helped his side to reach the 250-run mark.

Anrich Nortje took 2 wickets for his side giving 37 runs. Ryan John and Tabraiz Shamsi took one wicket each.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots came to chase the run and Evin Lewis added 12 runs from the first over. But Josh Little bowled the second over and removed Andre Fletcher for a duck and Kyle Mayers for 6. Evin Lewis however dominated the bowling and scored 39 runs from 23 balls. Mikyle Louis, who was debuting in T20, also chipped in with a few boundaries on the loose balls. He got the assistance from Tristan Stubbs. Mikyle Louis scored 56 off 38 balls in his home ground with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Tristan Stubbs got out soon after Louis' dismissal. He scored 39 from 19 balls with 3 fours and an equal number of maximums. After Stubbs' dismissal, nobody stood firm to take the run chase going forward. Dominic Drakes and Odean Smith contributed 12 and 13 respectively and Sherfane Rutherford departed scoring just one. Ryan John contributed 25 runs from 12 balls with 3 fours and a maximum to help his team go past the 200-run mark and post 206 on the board losing 8 wickets.

For the Trinbago Knight Riders, Josh Little, Sunil Narine and Waqar Salamkheil took 2 wickets each and Terrance Hinds and Nathan Edward took one wicket each.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentations.

A slower short ball around the leg stump line from Little, John mistimes the pull to deep mid-wicket for a single and that is the end of the match. The Trinbago Knight Riders secure a commanding win by 44 runs. Once they posted a massive total of 250, chasing it down was always going to be a tough ask. The bowlers delivered admirably on a flat pitch, holding their nerves to restrict the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots to 206/8.

19.5 J Little to R John
2 Full and at the middle and leg stump. John flicks it to deep mid wicket and scampers back for a second run.
19.4 J Little to A Nortje
1b Slower short ball outside off. Nortje misses the pull to the keeper. The batters go through for a bye.
200 up for SKNP in 19.3 overs.
19.3 J Little to A Nortje
4 FOUR!!!! Nortje gets off the mark with a boundary. Low full toss on the leg stump. Nortje comes down the track and gives himself room on the leg side. Slices it over the infield and gets it away to the fence for a boundary.
19.2 J Little to R John
1 Slower, short ball around leg stump line. John is early on the pull and gets a top edge that falls short of deep fine leg fielder. They take a single.
Josh Little comes back in the attack.
