That brings an end to our coverage for this game. It was pleasure bringing you all the updates from this game. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators Ninaad Dixit and Deepak Prakash and scorers Manish Bishnoi and Raju Khariya. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
Ishant Sharma (Player of the Match): "In the last few games, I was trying to ball knuckle ball. But it wasn't going well. Rishabh and Axar were making fun of me. But I tried to bowl that delivery. I got Virat out in the last game and I got the better of KL tonight.

I just try to take it as a day. As a fast bowler, playing for so many years, you take it day by day. I just want to thank Patrick. Because of him, I'm able to play nine matches. I had injury before this but a big thanks to him.

After the defeats, we sat down and spoke about it. It is important to come back after a big defeat. It gives you confidence in these types of tournaments if you win close games and you try to carry the momentum forward. That's what we have been trying to do."

Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals Captain): "Pooran was really giving us a hard time. He is that kind of a player, the caliber he has but the total was good enough.

We started the season with lot of hopes but there were few injuries here and there, few ups downs. As a franchise you can't complain all the time. We are still in contention of playoffs. Some things you can control some not. Last game I did not play, I am not saying I would have won the match but it would have given us a better chance.

The support I got from the whole country was really good to see. Everyone knew that I was playing after one and a half year so loved every bit of it."
Most Fours of the Match: Nicholas Pooran (6 fours)
Most Sixes of the Match: Arshad Khan (5 sixes)

Delhi Capitals while defending 200+ totals in IPL:

Matches: 13

Won: 13
Kuldeep Yadav: "It was a good wicket to bowl for the spinners. I was getting some grip so tried to spin the ball as much as possible. The length matters, wicket was bit slow so bowled a little bit fuller.

Playing on a quick track, its easy to adjust the length. On a slow pitch its a bit hard. The pace and revs are very important for a spinner to spin the ball.

That's how the league is. We came here to win this game and just won. That's what is important. Lets see how it goes in a couple of days' time."
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "I feel like the wickets remain pretty similar throughout the 40 overs. Yeah, when we got Jake out in the first over, we thought that we started off really well and we should have capitalized from there. But, yeah, that's how this season has beenโ€”where the players just keep coming. Even when wickets are falling, they just keep coming hard.

I think they showed a lot of intent. Shai Hope and Porel, when they batted, they just took the momentum away from us a little bit. And then I think we did pretty well at the back end as well. I believe 200 was a par score, and we should have chased it down.

I mean, this has been the problem throughout the season for us: we keep losing a lot of wickets in the powerplay. We've never been able to get off to a really solid start, to bring in players like Stoinis and Pooran into the game and get them to walk in around the 7th or 8th over mark with a solid start. And, yeah, that's probably one of the big reasons why we find ourselves in this position."
HIGHEST AGGREGATE IN A DC-LSG CLASH:

391 - (208, 189) Delhi, TODAY*

384 - (195, 189) Mumbai, 2022

337 - (167, 170) Lucknow, 2024
11:25 PM IST, Local Time: Thatโ€™s it. The Delhi Capitals keep themselves alive in the IPL 2024. They beat the Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs at home. They will now hope that the other results go their way and they qualify for the playoffs. The hosts manage to hold their nerves and overcome Arshad Khanโ€™s heroics with the bat to emerge victorious in their last league game. This also means that the Rajasthan Royals qualify for the playoffs.

Chasing 209, the Lucknow Super Giants got off to a worst possible start. Skipper KL Rahul fell in the very first over on five. Quinton de Kock hit a couple of boundaries before departing on 12 to give Ishant Sharma his second. Axar Patel struck on his very first ball by dismissing Marcus Stoinis (5). Nicholas Pooran came out all guns blazing at number five. He took on Axar from ball one.

Deepak Hooda at the other end was trapped in front of the stumps on a two-ball duck by Ishant in the next over as the veteran used all his experience and wreaked havoc in the LSG camp. Despite that, Pooran kept playing aggressively from the other end. He lacked support from the other end as Ayush Badoni (6) was dismissed as half of the LSG side was back in the hut in the eighth over.

Pooran kept going strong and brought up his fifty off just 20 balls, the fastest for LSG this season. Mukesh Kumar picked the big wicket of Pooran (61 off 27 balls) in the 12th over. Arshad Khan refused to give up. He kept his side in the hunt by scoring a fifty off just 25 balls. The game went down the wire. Arshad tried hard and scored an unbeaten 58 off 33 balls but it wasn't enough as the Super Giants finished their innings on 189/9 to fall short by 19 runs. Ishant Sharma registered figures of 3/34 for the Capitals which helped them defend the total successfully.

The Delhi Capitals were asked to bat first earlier. They lost in-form Jake Fraser-McGurk on a silver duck in the opening over. Abishek Porel was joined by Shai Hope at the crease. Both took the advantage of the fielding restrictions and scored at a brisk rate. The Super Giants struggled with the new ball as the Capitals scored 73 at the end of the powerplay for the loss of only one wicket.

Porel kept finding regular boundaries and brought up his fifty off just 21 balls. The LSG spinners bowled tighter in the middle overs as the boundaries dried up. Hope (38 off 27 balls) fell in the ninth as the 92-run stand came to an end. Porel holed out in the deep on 33-ball 58 and it allowed the Super Giants to pull back things.

Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs took their time to settle in before stepping on the accelerator as the death overs approached. Pant scored 23-ball 33 before departing in the 17th over. Stubbs provided a perfect finish for the Capitals by hitting some lusty blows and bringing up his fifty off just 22 balls. He remained unbeaten on 57 to power his side to 208/4. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up two scalps for LSG but conceded 51 runs in his four overs. Ravi Bishnoi bowled a brilliant spell of 1/26 in his four overs.

The Lucknow Super Giants' top order batters failed to contribute and as a result, they fell short by 19 runs. With this win, the Delhi Capitals keep their playoffs hopes alive whereas the Lucknow Super Giants need to win their last league game against the Mumbai Indians to stay in contention of finishing in top four.

Stick around for the post-match presentation.
