So, that's a wrap on our coverage of this game where Kolkata Knight Riders came out on top and consolidated their second place in the points table. Do join us tomorrow for the Lucknow Super Giants up against Mumbai Indians live from Lucknow. Stay tuned for more cricketing actions across the globe and across formats in our network.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya, Deepak Prakash and Sidharth Gulati alongside scorers/analysts Paras Yadav and Manish Bishnoi. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Varun Chakaravarthy (Player of the Match): "Definitely, it was holding a bit and helped me to do well. No, nothing like that. The catch was dropped that was a better ball while the catch that was taken that could have gone anywhere.

My favourite wicket was Tristan Stubbs' wicket. Want to bowl leg spin and stick to basics.

We are silent all the time. When something goes wrong they help us a lot. Sunil and the whole management as well. Shahrukh Khan and the entire management came and spoke to me personally.

Yes, the cheerleaders dance a lot and maybe they should dance only for sixes as this tournament has become more 4s and 6s. Yes, let's hope for the best."
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Varun Chakaravarthy
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "Not at all. The last few matches it played, I thought 200 was a par score. Then the ball became tacky after the powerplay and holding up. Good that we were bowling first and that helped us to do well and bat properly.

We don't say anything and Salt and Narine have been tremendous as they put their heart and soul into the work. Sunil does not attend batting meetings and good that he does not.

Varun bowled well and came back after having some off games out there. Yes, we are thinking of qualification and we have started well and want to reach there before the last few matches."
Most Fours of the Match: Phil Salt (7 fours)
Most Sixes of the Match: Phil Salt (5 sixes)
Fantasy Player of the Match: Phil Salt (131 points)
Electric Striker of the Match: Phil Salt (68 runs off 33 balls at a strike rate of 206.06)
Time for the post-match presentation...
Players with the most runs at Eden Gardens in a single IPL season:

344 - Phil Salt in 2024 (6 innings)

331 - Sourav Ganguly in 2010 (7 innings)

311 - Andre Russell in 2019 (7 innings)

303 - Chris Lynn in 2018 (9 innings)
The highest scores while batting at No. 9 or lower in the IPL:

49* - Harbhajan Singh (MI) vs Deccan Chargers, DY Patil, 2010

35* - Kuldeep Yadav (DC) vs KKR, Eden Gardens, TONIGHT

34* - Chris Morris (RR) vs SRH, Brabourne, 2015
Phil Salt (Kolkata Knight Riders): "It's good to be contributing. We've had a good run in the home games. It's nice that we've had the continuity of conditions. The bowlers made a great comeback after what happened against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

"It's high-risk batting. But it's also about putting the odds in your favour. You have to keep backing yourself and make those right options.

"It's very helpful wicketkeeping first and see what the pitch is doing. Definitely, it gives an advantage in assessing conditions first.

"Sunil (Narine) and I normally don't talk much a day before the game. We just have a good time. Narine brings a lot of experience to our partnership. If one of us gets going, we feed the strike to them."
Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals Captain): "I think it was a good decision for us to bat first, but as a batting unit, we didn't perform well enough. I believe 150 was definitely below par, especially considering the flow of the game. However, that's part and parcel of cricket.

We have a long break ahead, but we need to learn from our mistakes because the batting unit has performed well in previous matches. But, you know, sometimes it's just not your day.

No, definitely, the way we were progressing as a team was quite good, but, you know, it happens in T20 cricket. You can't always come out on top every day. The way we batted, falling short by 40-50 runs, hurt us in the bowling department.

I think setting a target of anything between 180 to 210 would have been an ideal score because this wicket played differently. There was considerable assistance for the bowlers, but as a batting unit, we didn't provide enough of a platform for the bowlers to capitalize on."
11:00 PM IST and Local Time: A comprehensive win for the Kolkata Knight Riders as they thrash the Delhi Capitals in all facets of the game to win by 7 wickets and 3.3 overs to spare. They get their 6th win in 9 games and consolidate second position with 12 points. While Delhi stays 6th with 10 points from 11 games. It was one of those days for the visitors.

Chasing 154 for the win, Kolkata Knight Riders got off to a blazing start in the powerplay courtesy of Phil Salt who scored 68 off 33 balls. They put on 79 for the first wicket inside 6 overs before Sunil Narine who played second fiddle today fell for 15 off 10 balls. Rinku Singh promoted to Number 3 could muster only 11 runs. In the end, skipper Shreyas Iyer played well and remained unbeaten on 33* off 23 balls while Venkatesh Iyer hit the winning runs and scored 26* off 23 balls. 4 extras given by the fielding side as KKR got to the target in 16.3 overs.

Delhi Capitals were sloppy and awful in the field as Lizaad Williams dropped a catch and misfielded a lot. He did pick up a wicket. Axar Patel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/25 in 4 overs. The rest of the bowlers remained wicketless today.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first. They never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals. Prithvi Shaw was the first one to depart for 13 while Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 12. Abishek Porel scored 18. Rishabh Pant the skipper looked good for his 27 off 20 balls. Axar Patel made 15 off 21 balls. But it was Kuldeep Yadav's 35* off 26 balls that rescued Delhi a bit and took them past 150 as they ended with 153/9 in 20 overs. 13 extras were given by the fielding side.

Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers bowled really well and the pick of the bowlers was Varun Chakaravarthy who finished with exceptional figures of 3/16 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets apiece for Varun Arora and Harshit Rana and they gave hardly anything away tonight. Sunil Narine bowled a miserly spell of 1/24 in 4 overs while Mitchell Starc despite picking up a wicket went the distance as he gave away 43 runs in 3 overs. All in all, apart from Starc everyone bowled well.

So, the Kolkata Knight Riders win by 7 wickets with 3.3 overs to spare against the Delhi Capitals and they consolidate their second position in the points table with 12 points from 9 games. Stay tuned for the presentations.
