Lucknow Super Giants while defending totals in IPL:

-Managed to win 12 matches out of 15, while losing two and having no result in one game in 2022 and 2023 combined

-Managed to win only three out of 6 matches defending totals in the ongoing season
Biggest partnerships for 4th wicket or below for Rajasthan Royals:

-121* - Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel against Lucknow Super Giants, Lucknow, TONIGHT*

-107 - Yusuf Pathan and Paras Dogra against Mumbai Indians, Mumbai (Brabourne), 2010

-98* - Jos Buttler and Steven Smith against Chennai Super Kings, Abu Dhabi, 2020
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Captain and Player of the Match): "I was lucky to be behind the wickets throughout. There was purchase with the new ball and then with old ball the wicket got better for the batters.

It was a team effort from all of us. We attacked in the powerplay and the bowlers did well in the end. We did well in the powerplay phase and then ended well that was satisfying for me. I think in the middle overs they batted well.

Dhruv batted really well. He bats in tough situations and believes in himself. Credit to the team management for preparing him well. It was a matter of time that he got runs.

Yes, we have been doing well away from home. We have been lucky and momentum is with us. We are ticking the right boxes and sticking to processes.

We are doing well result wise. We have been lucky as well to be honest.

Next game again box to be ticked. Taking it one game at a time."
Most Fours in the Match: KL Rahul (8 boundaries)

Time for the post-match presentation...
Biggest partnerships against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL for any wicket:

-142 - Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill for Gujarat Titans, Ahmedabad, 2023

-121* - Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel for Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow, TONIGHT*

-120* - Shreyas Iyer and Phil Salt for Kolkata Knight Riders, Kolkata, 2024

-115 - Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Bengaluru, 2023

-110 - Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway for Chennai Super Kings, Chennai, 2023
Dhruv Jurel (RR): "I had only one thing in mind. I wanted to play well and finish the game whenever I got an opportunity.

Batting in the middle order is always a blessing or maybe a curse. I just wanted to stay until the end and finish the game for my team. I will have to practice. In the batting powerplay, you have just two fielders outside the ring. During the middle overs, you'll need to find the gaps and get the big hits going, as there are five fielders in the deep. That's what I was looking at.

I started well, but my shots went straight to the fielders. Sanju Samson then told me to calm down, not go too hard, and take my time. Then I got 20 runs in an over, and that got me going.

The salute after the half-century was dedicated to my father, who was in the army. I also did so during the test match. Tonight, my father was here watching my innings. This is the first time I have done such a thing in front of him."
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants Captain): "I think we were about 20 runs behind. We didn’t get an ideal start but with the partnership between (Deepak) Hooda and I was great. It's crucial for the set batters to convert their 60s-70s into a three-figure score. We should've capitalized more on the momentum we had while batting.

"I think it's clear the team with more sixes ends up winning. We do try to hit our sixes but (against RR) we had to change our approach after those two early wickets.

"If Hooda or I could've pushed on, things could've been different. It's important for the batters to give extra cushion to the batters.

"Everyone loves range-hitting. It's part of the preparation. Our big hitters Marcus (Stoinis) and (Nicholas) Pooran can hit those big shots. The other guys like us try to pick our areas and time the shots better.

"We do look at data before a game. (Amit) Mishra's an experienced player and it was a day we knew he could be useful with how slow he bowls and with the larger boundaries.. The idea was to use (Ravi) Bishnoi in the later half.

"RR kept putting us under pressure. I was a bit too late to bring Bishnoi into the attack. The plan was to keep him for when Rovman (Powell) and (Shimron) Hetmyer come out to bat."
11:08 PM IST and Local Time: Skipper Sanju Samson finishes things off in style as Rajasthan Royals chase down a tricky 197-run target in 19 overs to win this game by 7 wickets with an over to spare. Rajasthan Royals win their 8th game in 9 matches and 4 matches out of 4 on the road they have won. They have played better than LSG and deserves the win at the end of the night.

Chasing 197 for the win, Rajasthan Royals got off to a flier in the powerplay as Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal were fluent in their stroke plays to get starts. Buttler scored 34 while Jaiswal scored 24. Riyan Parag the Impact Player mustered 14 runs. But it was the Sanju Samson show as the skipper led from the front with his 71* off 33 balls. Dhruv Jurel supported him well with his 52* off 34 balls and was playing the defining knock for a long time. 4 extras given by LSG bowlers as the chase was completed in 19 overs.

It was a tough evening for the LSG bowlers as they tried hard without much luck. A wicket apiece for Yash Thakur, Marcus Stoinis, and Amit Mishra the impact player. The bowlers were used in a bizare manner tonight by LSG and lot of questions need to be asked of the think tank. They deserved to lose this game.

Earlier in the game, LSG were put into bat by RR. They lost Quinton de Kock and Marcus Stoinis cheaply. But the skipper KL Rahul led from the front with his 76 off 48 balls. He was ably supported by Deepak Hooda who scored 50 off 31 balls. Nicholas Pooran endured a rare failure as he scored just 11 runs. Ayush Badoni was unbeaten on 18* off 13 balls while Krunal Pandya scored 15* off 11 balls. 18 extras given by the fielding side as LSG ended with 196/5 in 20 overs.

Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/31 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Trent Boult, Avesh Khan and Ravichandran Ashwin. Yuzvendra Chahal went wicketless for the first time this season.

So, a win for the Rajasthan Royals over Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets with an over to spare as they get their 8th win this season and go to 16 points. Stay tuned for the presentations.

6 SIXXXX!!! A similar delivery got the better of Jos Buttler earlier in the match! But Samson is too good to miss out! A low full toss angling into the leg stump. Samson walks across and flicks across the line. Times it well and clobbers it over long leg for a maximum. That is the winning runs as well. Fittingly, it comes off the bat of the RR skipper! The Royals win by 7 wickets with an over to spare and are all but through to the playoffs!
This is the highest 4th wicket partnership for Rajasthan Royals in IPL history.
