That's it from a remarkable game in IPL 2024 where records were broken and we had a record chase by Punjab Kings as they get the win and break their losing streak to go upwards in the points table. Do join us tomorrow for a double header in IPL 2024 as Delhi Capitals take on Mumbai Indians live from Delhi and then it will be followed by Lucknow Super Giants up against Rajasthan Royals from Lucknow. Stay tuned for more cricketing actions from across the globe in our network and across formats.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Ninaad Dixit and Sidharth Gulati alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Jonny Bairstow (Player of the Match): "We got off to a flier and Prabh got us going. We needed that and then they were off to a great start with Sunil at the top. Needed it badly.

"Yes, it was concerning with form but we took them on and carted them all over the park. We played Sunil Narine carefully and gave him respect.

"My mantra was to whack the ball. Full credit to Shashank as he showed his experience out there.

"Wow! It was clean hitting from him and really loved batting with him. He took the pressure off me. Glad to get the win in the end."
Jonny Bairstow is the Player of the Match
Sam Curran (Punjab Kings Captain): "Phew! Very pleasing the win and then it was baseball hitting. Where to start from. Delighted to get two points and we hung in there and deserved the win and two points.

"I think the guys chase and can hit it for a long time. The confidence and the coaches and the ground small as well. It is not a batsman's game to me but stats are going out of the window.

"Yes, we did well to hang in there despite going the distance. Jonny played a great knock and he showed character and Shashank showed great responsibility and was impressive.

"It was a big win and we will take the two points easily. WOW! Great game."

Shashank Singh (PBKS): "In the dugout, I was watching the wicket. I felt the ball was coming on nicely. Thought I'd try to play out Sunil (Narine) and take on the rest of the bowlers.

"(Trevor) Bayliss has faith in me. He wants me to play with freedom and go for my shots.

"In previous matches, we weren't really able to win the crucial moments. (Against KKR) we were determined to get the job done.

"Great learning (at PBKS). It's about taking one match at a time. Still five more matches to go."
Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders Captain): "The way the batters batted was tremendous to see Sunny and Phil Salt coming in. They have been phenomenal throughout the season. The end of the day they delivered so its just treat to the eyes the way they bat.

Both the teams played tremendously. Its just one of those games where you go back and mull over what went wrong. Not able to defend 260 hurts. We have 1 more game here. Its important we assess the conditions and come up with greater ideas.

Sunil Narine hits the ball with so ease. Its just treat to the eyes even in the nets. Lot to learn from him. Hopefully he is continuing with the same performance."
11:17 PM IST and Local Time: History made at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata as Punjab Kings have pulled off a record chase in T20 cricket history let alone IPL to win this game by 8 wickets with 8 balls to spare. What a match we have had here and KKR have been left shell shocked by the brilliance of the Punjab Kings.

Chasing a gigantic 262 for the win, Punjab Kings got off to a racing start as they scored 93 off the powerplay and lost one wicket at the end of it. Prabhsimran Singh playing as Impact Player started it all with his 54 off 20 balls. Jonny Bairstow settled in and then was the star of the show with his unbeaten 108* off 48 balls. He got able support from Rilee Rossouw who scored 26 off 16 balls and Shashank Singh came in at Number 4 and scored a magnificent 68* off 28 balls. He played the perfect role of the finisher as Punjab Kings cruise to victory in 18.4 overs and win by 8 wickets. 6 extras given by the fielding side.

It was a bad day for the bowlers of both sides. Sunil Narine was fantastic amidst the carnage as he finished with 1/24 in 4 overs. The other wicket fell to a run out. The rest of the attack went the distance as Punjab were unstoppable at the end of it.

Earlier in the game, KKR were put into bat first by Punjab Kings. The openers got off to a blazing start as they put on 138 for the first wicket. Phil Salt was the top scorer with 75 off 37 balls while Sunil Narine scored 71 off 32 balls. Venkatesh Iyer came in and scored a quickfire 39 off 23 balls. Andre Russell scored 24 off 12 balls while skipper Shreyas Iyer chipped in with his 28 off 10 balls. 13 extras given by the fielding side as KKR finished with 261/6 in 20 overs.

Arshdeep Singh picked up a couple of wickets for Punjab Kings. Rahul Chahar bowled well for his 1/33 in 4 overs. But the others were taken to the cleaners. Sam Curran the skipper and Harshal Patel picked up a wicket each despite going the distance. Rabada went wicketless today and went the distance.

So, Punjab Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 8 wickets with 8 balls to spare and they climb upwards in the points table. A record breaking day in Kolkata. Stay tuned for the presentations.
