So, that's all we have got for you in this North Group Clash in Blast 2024. Switch tabs to catch more action happening in the Blast and other matches around the globe in our network. For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentators Soumarya Dutta and Deepak Prakash alongside scorer/analyst Dushyant Madhukar Kumar. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodnight and CHEERS!
Samit Patel (Derbyshire Captain and Player of the Match) - "It was great to go there and I targeted the shorter boundary. I said to the lads at the half time that we need to play aggressive cricket and achieve this total. With all the experience, myself, Madsen and others we always knew that we were in the game. We will like to take the momentum of this game into the next game."
Player of the Match - Samit Patel (Derbyshire)
Peter Handscomb (Leicestershire Captain)- "We tried to execute our plans but they played really well. Samit Patel was superb in the middle overs. Rehan is a real bright prospect. He played with class and hopefully we will see him a lot often. As long as we can stay calm out there while bowling and improve our batting, we can most certainly win more games."
9:52 PM IST, 5:22 PM Local Time: That's it. We have seen an incredible game of cricket where the pendulum swung from one team to another. In the end, it was Derbyshire who held their nerves to win the game by 4 wickets and get off the mark in Blast 2024. Leicestershire were in the game but just could not cross the line in the end.

Chasing 177 for the win, Derbyshire got off to a shaky start as they lost early wickets. Luis Reece went cheaply while Harry Came scored 10. David Lloyd scored a quickfire 11 off 6 balls. They were 3 down early but were rescued by the duo of Wayne Madsen and skipper Samit Patel. While Madsen scored 43 off 35 balls, Samit Patel the skipper led from the front and scored 64 off 32 balls. Both got out towards the end as the match got tight. But it was Brooke Guest's with his 20* off 10 balls striking crucial lusty blows at the end helped them get over the line with 5 balls left. 17 extras given by the fielding side.

The Leicestershire bowlers tried their hearts out but to no avail. A couple of wickets for Ben Mike. A wicket apiece for Louis Kimber, Ian Holland, Rehan Ahmed who was expensive with the ball today and Scott Currie. Josh Hull went wicketless today.

Earlier in the game, Leicestershire won the toss and decided to bat first. They also lost wickets at regular intervals. Sol Budinger fell cheaply. Rishi Patel scored 13 off 9 balls. But it was the skipper Peter Handscomb who stood tall as he led from the front with his 75* off 51 balls. Louis Kimber chipped in with 21 off 13 balls. Wiaan Mulder scored 17 off 12 balls. Ben Cox scored 10 while Rehan Ahmed was brilliant with the bat as he scored an unbeaten 36* off 22 balls. 4 extras given by the fielding side as the Foxes ended with 176/6 in 20 overs.

Derbyshire were good for majority of the overs with the ball before they fell away in the death overs. Skipper Samit Patel was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/21 in 4 overs. A couple of wickets for Patrick Brown and Zak Chappell as well. But both Patrick and Zak went for runs in the death overs. It was a good game of cricket and Derbyshire in the end coming out on top.

So, Derbyshire beat Leicestershire by 4 wickets to notch up their first win this season in this North Group clash. Stay tuned for the presentations.
19.2 J Hull to B Guest
nb FOURRR!! Game, set and MATCH! It was a full toss and around the middle stump line. Guest pulls it away through the mid wicket region for a boundary. Derbyshire get home with 4 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand. In fact, no ball has been signalled. 2 runs added to the total and the boundary won't count.
