So, the Mumbai Indians have lost three games in a row. They are yet to register a single win in IPL 2024. The Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, are sitting comfortably at the top of the table with three consecutive wins. The action now shifts to Bengaluru where the Royal Challengers Bengaluru will host the Lucknow Super Giants. Do join us tomorrow for that mouth-watering clash.

For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya and Sidharth Gulati and scorer Paras Yadav. Tata. Bye Bye.
Trent Boult (POTM): "No, never ever I will say that there is a certainity in this format, but happy to fill my role and take wickets with the new ball.

We won the toss and executed what we discussed earlier, picking wickets with the new ball and putting pressure on them. A couple of wickets in the first over, and we had them on the back foot.

(On Rohit's wicket) I have played against him a lot, and it is just about doing something different against him. It doesn't always work this way, but happy when it does.

Nandre Burger is a great armoury, and we are grateful to have found him. He wears a lot of heart and bowls with great confidence, just like South African bowlers do.

Sandeep has been doing well, although he missed out today. Ashwin and Chahal always chip in as well. Good to be part of this bowling attack."
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: TRENT BOULT
Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals Skipper): "I think the toss was the game-changer. It was very crucial. It was too sticky to start up and we used Boult and Burger very well.

That's the experience. Boult has been playing international cricket for more than 10-15 years. I didn't expect four or five wickets down. But it was a great effort from them.

We know we have very big individuals in our team. But what stands apart is that everyone know what is the need of the team. Even Ashwin bowling slower tonight as the pitch was slowing up a bit was an example of it. He kept it tight in the middle overs.

The guys are fired up to come in and perform in each IPL season. It was good to see Yuzi step up and perform the way he did tonight."
Most Fours Award: Hardik Pandya (6 boundaries)
Super Sixes of the Match: Riyan Parag (3 maximums)
Fantasy Player of the Match: Trent Boult (103 Points)
Electric Striker of the Match: Hardik Pandya (34 off 21 at a SR of 162)
Time for the post-match presentation...

16 - Amit Mishra

STAT ATTACK - RR have take the most wickets (9) in the PowerPlay this season.
Riyan Parag (RR, the current Orange Cap holder): "There is Nothing special, to be honest, in my batting. I keep it simple instead of doing too much. Earlier, when I wasn't getting runs, I would think too much and try different things.
This year, I am keeping this simple: watch the ball and hit the ball.

This (number 4 and with the team losing early wickets) is the exact same situation when I go to bat in the domestic circuit. When Jos bhai (Buttler) and Ash bhai (Ashwin) got out suddenly, I thought of doing exactly what I would have done in these situations in domestic cricket. It was a calculative approach.

I was not performing for three or four years in IPL. And you really go back to the hotel room and think when you know you can do it, and the results are not coming, you go back to the drawing room. I realised I wasn't practising at this level, so I went and did that. I practised exactly these kinds of balls (pace, seam, swing and other factors that come in higher levels) and these scenarios a lot, and hence the performances and the results.

My dad likes to watch me batting and enjoy from home but my mother is here."
Hardik Pandya (Mumbai Indians Skipper): “Obviously, didn’t start as we would have liked with the bat. Tough night. I think we were in a decent position to give ourself a chance to get to 150-160. But my wicket gave them a chance to get back in the game and my wicket was crucial.

It’s good to have for the bowlers as well. This game is cruel for the bowlers but I’m not against these types of pitches.

I mean absolutely. It’s about doing the right things. Sometimes it happen. Sometimes it doesn’t. Have seen worst days than these. But I’m confident in the group that we will come back stronger. Just that we need to show some discipline and show some courage.”
22:56 IST and Local Time | That's it. Rajasthan Royals complete a comprehensive 6-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians. Third win in a row for RR while MI succumb to their third consecutive defeat. Credit to Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag for RR's spectacular show at the renowned Wankhede.

Chasing a target of 126, RR despite losing three wickets in quick succession were pretty much in control. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, and skipper Sanju Samson smacked a combined 7 boundaries, and that kept the visitors’ chase on track. Riyan Parag, who had smashed a match-winning half-century against Delhi Capitals in RR’s previous match, once again displayed a balanced combination of aggression and patience. Parag and Ashwin, who was promoted to No. 5, stitched a crucial 40-run stand before the latter fell to Akash Madhwal. MI needed to keep the wickets coming to have any chance, but Parag’s unbeaten 54 guided RR over the line with 27 balls remaining.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, MI could only manage 125/9. Boult struck twice in the opening over, then scalped another in the third and when Nandre Burger removed Ishan Kishan, MI were reeling at 20/4. Skipper Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma then led MI’s recovery before Chahal stepped up, dismissing both and leaving MI in tatters. MI collapsed from 76/4 to 114/ 9. The 56-run partnership between Hardik and Tilak was the only positive in MI’s batting innings. The new ball swung and their batters had no answers. A disappointing batting effort by the home team. RR bowlers, on the other hand, were instrumental in keeping their team unbeaten so far this season.
15.3 G Coetzee to R Parag
4 FOURRRR!!! Three back-to-back boundaries to seal the deal for the visitors! RR make it three in three, handing the Hardik Pandya-led MI their third straight loss! Two different emotions on both camps! Parag has nailed his new number 4 role, and he is a player to watch throughout the season.

Short of a length delivery angling into the batter's body. The Assam batter is hurried by its pace and bounce but still goes through the pull shot, getting a top edge that flies over the head of the keeper for a boundary. That's the winning runs and the Sanju Samson-led army looks unbeatable at the moment!
