Milestone
Time to conclude our coverage from the 21st game of Men's Hundred 2024 between Welsh Fire and Northern Superchargers. For now, this is the trio of Ayan Chatterjee, AkshayaKrishna Polya and Saptak Sanyal, signing off alongside our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Don't go anywhere as we will bring you the updates of the second game of the Men's Hundred double header soon.
22:24 IST and 17:54 Local Time | The 21st game of the Men's Hundred 2024 gets abandoned as rain came back again to create interruption in the rain-reduced 25-ball per side contest.

After being invited to bat first on a tricky wicket, Northern Superchargers never looked good in their innings. Nicholas Pooran started with a boundary but he fell for 4. Matthew Short got out for a golden duck and skipper Harry Brook could score 7. Ben Stokes and Adam Hose got out cheaply and Ollie Robinson hit a six in the final set of Rauf to remain unbeaten on 8 to take the score to 26 for the Superchargers.

Matt Henry bowled two sets to take 2 wickets for just 8 runs. Haris Rauf bowled two sets ad gave just 9 runs to take 2 wickets and the other wicket was taken by David Willey

Coming to chase the run, Luke Wells scored 2 runs in the second legal ball of the run chase and when the Welsh Fire were on 3/0 after the first 2 balls, rain came back again and umpires decided to call the game off.
22:19 IST and 17:49 Local Time | The players and the umpires are trudging off the field as drizzle comes back. Rain is not that heavy and it might be a passing shower. Umpires are coming off and Tom Abell is talking to them. Yes, the game is abandoned with teams sharing one point each! Jonny Bairstow asked earlier if this was the end and the latest start time was 5:16 PM Local Time. So, no more grace time and hence, the match is called off.
First runs off the bat from Wells and Fire. The former gets off the mark with two runs.
2b B Stokes to L Wells
2 Good length on the stumps. A slower ball from Stokes. Wells makes room but he is early on the slash. Gets a thick outside half of the bat that balloons away in the off side. Slices it just over Ollie Robinson at cover point for a couple of runs. Wells is off the mark! First run off the bat!
1b B Stokes to L Wells
0 Back of a length around the off stump. An effort ball from Stokes. Pitches and nips away sharply with a bit of extra bounce. Wells is surprised by it as he clears his front leg and misses the pull on the top edge to the keeper.
Stokes starts with a wide. Superchargers can't afford any extra run with such a low score to defend.
1b B Stokes to L Wells
WD WIDE! Stokes with the new ball. He has a grim smile, and the drizzle is picking up in Cardiff. Over the wicket. Full and down the leg side. Wells looks to get inside its line and whip it over square leg but misses it to the keeper. First run of the chase!

22:16 IST and 17:46 Local Time | We are set for the live action to begin as the Superchargers' players are walking out and Jonny Bairstow is putting his helmet on. Luke Wells and Jonny Bairstow are coming out to chase 27 runs from 25 balls. Ben Stokes is starting with the new ball. Meanwhile, rain has started and Ben Stokes is doing all he can to waste time so that they go off.
Matt Henry(Welsh Fire): "The pitch has a little bit for the pacers. I think our bowlers have used the dimensions better and restricting them to 26 was a good job. I think batters have something in this wicket and hopefully we can chase this down."
10:07 PM IST, 5:37 PM Local Time: That's it from the first innings as Northern Superchargers have crawled their way to get to 26/5 in 25 balls. It's been a struggle under helpful conditions and they have to bowl really well to defend this paltry score. Welsh Fire will be the happier side at this stage.

It was a struggle for the Superchargers with the bat after they lost the toss. None of the batters got going and got to double digits. Harry Brook the skipper scored 7 while Oliver George Robinson was unbeaten on 8* off 6 balls. 4 extras given by the bowling side as they ended with 26/5 in 25 balls.

Welsh Fire were excellent with the ball under helpful conditions. Matt Henry started it all and finished with figures of 2/8 10 balls. Haris Rauf bowled the last 2 sets and finished with 2/9 in 10 balls. David Willey bowled the first set and gave away 6 runs to pick up a wicket to his name. Only 3 bowlers that were required to be used today.

So, Welsh Fire needs 27 runs off 25 balls to win the match and climbs upwards in the table. Can they do it? Back with the chase soon. Stay tuned!
