Player Bio

An experienced left-handed batsman, Luke Wells is a professional English cricketer Son of former England player Alan Wells, he made his Sussex debut back in 2010 as an opener and has been impressive since. Wells joined the Red Rose following a nine-year association with boyhood club Sussex, where he made a boatload of appearances in all formats.

The Sussex-based cricketer made his first-class debut against Worcestershire on September 13th, 2010 and scored an impressive 62 runs on his debut but ended up on the losing side. Wells has also proved to be a more than useful bowling option throughout his career, claiming 69 wickets with his occasional leg-spin, including a career-best 5/63 against Glamorgan in 2019.

Wells finished the 2017 season as the club's highest County Championship run-scorer, averaging 64.60 in the competition that year. The southpaw joined Lancashire after leaving Sussex in a two-year deal and will be adding extra depth to the squad. At 30 years of age, Wells is an exemplary leaver of the ball and someone of strong mental character, scoring runs even while others fall regularly in a team full of white-ball players.
