That brings an end to our coverage of this game. It was pleasure bringing you all the updates from this fixture. Keep joining us for more cricketing action all around the globe. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off, on behalf of my co-commentators AkshayaKrishna Polya, Deepak Prakash, and Ajay Pal Singh and scorer Paras Yadav. Until next time, cheers and good bye.
Aiden Markram (South Africa Captain): "Gous played really well and made life tough for us, but overall, I'm pretty happy with the performance. Maybe if we tidy up a couple of overs here and there, the result might look a bit more convincing. At one point, they were 70 or 80 for five. But you sort of take those lessons in and tidy them up. Hopefully, moving forward, we get those little stages right, and the win looks a bit more comprehensive.

They bowled well. The wicket got a bit slower and a little more stopped. So if you combine those two factors, it makes sense why we didn't finish with the bang we'd have liked. It was nice for Quinny to really get into his flow and for everyone else to chip in. I'm happy with that. It's a massive positive for us moving forward in the competition.

As I mentioned, there are a couple of overs we probably could have tidied up, and then the result might have looked a bit different. But overall, I thought the plans were good. A couple of executions here and there might have let us down. But once again, on a pretty good wicket with a really strong wind to a short boundary, I think the bowlers did a pretty good job to restrict the team to 170."
Aaron Jones (USA Captain): "I don't want to say disappointed. But it's hard to get the defeat after coming so close.

We have a really good unit. A lot of talent in the USA and if we play good cricket, we can beat any team.

As I said earlier, we need to be more disciplined. If we can be disciplined, we can win games instead of coming close. We will get back to the drawing board and come back stronger.

Happy to be going home for me personally. Know the conditions well. Hopefully, we will come back harder and finish on the winning side."
This is the fifth consecutive win for South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup, equaling their longest winning streak in the competition, which they achieved with five consecutive wins in the 2009 edition.

Quinton de Kock (Player of the Match): "Obviously, it was a nice day out. A decent wicket finally. We have had tricky wickets coming here. The boys fought well. The USA also played well and put a good fight till the end.

The focus was to score runs with the wind and the shorter boundary.

We have had a tricky wickets coming up to this game. It was nice to get in and hit some balls and get some runs under our name.

We still have a couple of more games to win. We will be coming up against some big teams. Different venues and different surfaces and don't know what we will be coming up against."
Player of the Match: Quinton de Kock
11:20 PM IST & 1:50 PM Local Time: That's it USA gave the Proteas a tough fight, chasing a mammoth total of 195 but in the end it was just too much against a quality attack that South Africa had up their sleeves. South Africa won it by 18 runs and start the Super 8 stages on a winning note but it wasn't a walk in the park for Aiden Markram's men as they had to fight hard to get these two points against a spirited USA outfit.

Earlier in the match, South Africa, after being sent in to bat, posted a huge total of 194 for 4 from their quota of 20 overs.

Quinton de Kock gave the Proteas a brisk start, scoring 74 off just 40. It was his highest score in this tournament so far.

Reeza Hendricks' poor run continued as he made a run-a-ball 11. Skipper Aiden Markram chipped in with a fine knock of 46 off 32.

David Miller perished for a golden duck while Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs’ cameos helped South Africa to post a total close to 200.

Saurabh Netravalkar was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 2/21 from his quota of 4 overs. Harmeet Singh also picked up a couple of wickets with his left-arm spin.

In reply, USA lost three wickets quickly, including the in-form Aaron Jones, the stand-in captain, for a 5-ball duck.

Wicketkeeper-batter Andries Gous fought a lone battle and he made an unbeaten 80 off 47 but it wasn't enough to take his team over the line in the run chase. Harmeet Singh also played a good supporting role and his partnership with Gous gave the USA hope of achieving the target but as the left-hander lost his wicket in the penultimate over, it was curtains for the batting team.

Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowler, he finished with figures of 3/ 18 from his quota of 4 overs. Rabada gave away just 2 runs in the penultimate over and removed Harmeet Singh to seal the deal for the Proteas.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.
