That's it from our coverage of the women's cricket competition in the Asian Games 2022. Team India finally win a multi-team event and take the gold medal. It is the Indian contingent's second gold after they secured a gold in shooting earlier in the day.

Ninaad Dixit here signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Arijit Kundu and scorer/analyst Dushyant Kumar. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
The Indian squad members call upon the stage, the coaching staff and present them with the bouquets. The teams pose for the final official photographs. The Indian team then wraps the proceedings with a victory lap around the ground.
Time for the national anthem of India, the receiver of Gold.
3:13 PM IST, 5:43 PM Local Time: So, the Indian team is being asked to come in the middle of the field. It's time for the medal presentation ceremony. Firstly, it is the Bangladesh Cricket team that stands behind the bronze banner. India Women clinched gold and stand in the middle. To their right, it's the Sri Lankan Women's Cricket team with the silver.

And now the Nigar Sultana Joty-led unit receives bronze medals and a token of reward from the dignitaries. Over to the Lankan side now who settled for the silver medal. And finally, it is time for the Indian cricketers to receive the gold medals. Starting off with Pooja Vastrakar at the extreme end, shuffling sideways towards Harmanpreet Kaur at the other end who captained the Indian team for the 100th time in her T20I career today.

Women's Cricket at the Asian Games 2022:

GOLD MEDAL: INDIA
SILVER MEDAL: SRI LANKA
BRONZE MEDAL: BANGLADESH
2:42 PM IST, 5:12 PM Local Time: Team India win the gold medal match against Sri Lanka defeating the Lionesses by 19 runs in the finals of the women's cricket competition in the Asian Games 2022.

Harmanpreet Kaur was back as India skipper leading the team for the 100th time in her career. She won the toss and decided to bat first. India managed 116/7 on a bowler friendly track on the back of 46 from Smriti Mandhana and 42 from Jemimah Rodrigues.

Chasing 117, the Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu started off with a four and a six but Pooja Vastrakar and fellow fast bowler Titas Sadhu brought the Indian side back in the game. Sadhu picked up 2 wickets in her first over and returned to get rid of the Lankan skipper in her second over.

Hasini Perera (25 off 22) and Nilakshi de Silva (23 off 34) then stitched a 36-run stand which took the game back in balance but Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2/20) removed Perera in the 10th over bringing India back in the hunt.

Oshadi Ranasinghe then scored 19 off 26 in another small partnership with Nilakshi where 28 runs were added for the 5th wicket. It was Pooja Vastrakar who came back for her final over and removed Nilakshi with a low full toss.

Oshadi who had hit a couple of boundaries was the next to depart with Deepti Sharma (1/25) getting her wicket. Devika Vaidya (1/15) bowled a tidy spell and had Kavisha Dilhari caught out with Richa Ghosh taking a magnificent catch.

Gayakwad then bowled the final over with 25 to defend and dismissed Sugandika Kumari on the penultimate ball of the inning. Both Sadhu and Vastrakar in their wonderful spells bowled a maiden over apiece. A total of 73 dot balls was delivered in the second innings.

1 Short and outside the off stump, played off the backfoot towards Kaur at extra cover for just a single. India win by 19 runs and win the gold medal! Some effort from the Indian contingent. The second gold medal of the day for the nation. After failing to go past the finish line in the Commonwealth Games last year, this is an awesome statement made by the Indian girls.
Udeshika Prabodhani is the new batter.

Another one bites the dust and signs of desperation mixed with despair from Kumari.
19.5 R Gayakwad to S Kumari
W GONE!! Another wicket for Rajeshwari Gayakwad to add in her kitty! Bowls a flighted delivery on good length and keeps it away from Kumari's reach outside the off stump. The left hander charges down the track to slash the ball away but makes no contact. Richa Ghosh does the rest whipping the bails off in a flash.
So, India Women will be securing Gold!!!!! Making the nation proud with their endeavour.
19.4 R Gayakwad to S Kumari
2 Good length and just outside off, drilled past the covers. Smriti Mandhana chases the ball with Kumari getting back successfully for the 2nd run.
