Right then, that's it from this entertaining T20I encounter between New Zealand and Pakistan. Omkar Iyer here signing off on behalf of Deepak Prakash and scorer/analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Stay tuned for more cricketing action from around the world.
Milestone alert🚨: Tim Southee is the first player to pick up 150 wickets in T20Is.
Kane Williamson (New Zealand Captain): "Yeah, I mean, that's kind of how it goes at Eden Park, isn't it? It's pretty chaotic and you're always in the game.

Some really good partnerships throughout, obviously a fantastic knock from Daryl, but some really valuable contributions, guys coming in, doing the work, and getting ourselves in position to throw those punches, I suppose, and get a really competitive total. But you're never quite sure what's enough here. And a lot of credit, I think, goes to the bowlers.

He (Southee) has been around for a long, long time and obviously a credit to his consistent performances over a long period, but naturally adds so much in the dressing room as a leader in our environment. So a calm head and pretty good to have him out there with some young sort of nasty pacers that are getting some really good experience and playing a really strong side in that of Pakistan. So a fantastic game again at Eden Park and a brilliant crowd.

There are a lot of good things and the margins are fine in this format in particular, so a lot of good stuff. Really quick turnaround. So Hamilton in a couple of days."

Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan Captain): "It's a moment of pride to captain the team, and it's an honor for any player to lead their country. Our performance was commendable, and we aim to continue giving our best in the upcoming games. Both Williamson and Mitchell displayed outstanding skills. Improving our catching is essential, and that's an area we'll focus on. Ayub's solid performance and Abbas's impressive debut are positive aspects. Moving forward, precision and utilizing variations will be crucial for our success."
Daryl Mitchell (Player of the Match): "I think you don't really know really how much you need out here. But I thought the partnerships we built throughout the middle with Kane and GP as well allowed us to have a platform to try and put the bowlers under some pressure, which you always try and do here at Eden Park. And also the way the boys bowled at the end there was superb.

We always know that it's always got decent pace and carry and it's trying to play nice cricket shots for long periods of time and they're trying to put them under pressure.

Yeah, I think I love playing for New Zealand first and foremost. It means a hell of a lot. And anytime you get to walk out here in front of crowds like this and get to perform on the world stage is pretty cool."

Phew! What a turnaround. Till the time Babar Azam was on the crease, Pakistan were undoubtedly in the game. Although, once he departed there was no courage shown from the lower-middle order. Pakistan lost the last 6 wickets by putting up just 21 runs on the scoreboard. Nevertheless, Pakistan came into the run chase with the right intent.

The visitors got off to a flier, Ayub and Rizwan did manage to set the tone of this run chase. I mean, Ayub was playing shots with authourity and against a good seam attack as well. Although, against the run of play, the boy who was keeping the batters on their toes had to walk back, but that did not affect their run rate, as Rizwan started his slaughter right after. For Pakistan, among the top 5 batters, everyone did get starts but only one player could convert it into a half-century, it was Babar Azam, who's wicket changed the scenario of the game for the visitors.

New Zealand take a 1-0 lead in this series and the home side will be elated. Although, they had their fair share of concerns when it came to fielding. There were a couple of opportunities put down at the start, but as the game progressed the fielding aspect became much better for the hosts. The boundary line fielding was top-notch in the second half of this innings. Tim Southee was incredible with the ball and ended his night with a four-wicket haul. Adam Milne and Ben Sears chipped in with a couple each, while Ish Sodhi took a single wicket, but was surely the highlight of this innings.
