So, that's a wrap from this game of WBBL. With the Scorchers suffering a defeat, the roads are still open for the Sydney Thunder, Brisbane Heat, and Sydney Sixers to make the cut.

Thank you for joining with us. We shall be back with various other coverages. So, this is Arijit Kunu taking your leave on behalf of co-commentator, Akshay Bhide and scorer/analyst, Zeeshan Naiyer. Cheers!!

5:43 PM IST, 8:13 PM Local Time | A commendable victory for the Melbourne Stars over the Perth Scorchers. This is their third straight win against the Perth-based unit in the timeline of WBBL. The Scorchers are still at the top two but their spot is yet to be confirmed for the finals.

The Sophhie Devine-based outing never seemed at par in the chase and kept losing wickets in a periodic fashion barring for two brisk partnerships in the middle. There was just a 33-run stand and a 27-run partnership for the fourth and sixth wicket respectively. Sophie Day was brilliant with her bowling after a good start offered by the other members of the Stars in their defense.

Kim Garth and Annabel Sutherland struck with the new ball as they dismissed the openers early within the powerplay. Alice Capsey and Sasha Moloney played their parts with the ball effectively and the Scorchers lost their top four of the batting order halfway through the chase. Amy Jones was the lone warrior in the chase with her 42 off 30 balls but was eventually outsmarted by Day in the 17th over. They were pushed down to 107-9 before Alana King and Ainsworth milked their way till the end denying a wicket.

Annabel Sutherland, captain of the Melbourne Stars, won the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a rough start when Chloe Ainsworth clean-bowled Maia Bouchier in the second over. Sophia Dunkley was joined by Alice Capsey, and the two glued a 100-run-plus partnership. Dunkley took on the Scorchers Women hard from the start. Capsey was there for her on the other end as they kept the Scorchers Women at bay.

Dunkley reached her fifty in 32 balls, her fastest in this edition. Nat Sciver-Brunt broke the Scorchers Women's 101-run stand by removing Capsey on 43.

Dunkley was irrepressible as she continued to play her strokes. She hit some spectacular shots and raced to 73 off 48 balls before succumbing in the 15th over.

This opened the path for a collapse with Piepa Cleary bagging two-in-two in the 15th over. Annabel Sutherland failed to put up a cameo and with a brisk contribution from Nicole Faltum, the Stars reached the 157 run mark.
