Player Bio

A rising star of world cricket at the moment, Sutherland is an all-rounder who plays for the Australian women’s cricket team and for Victoria in the domestic circuit.

She made her domestic debut at the age of 15 for the Melbourne Renegades, and at that time she was the youngest player to feature in the Big Bash.

In 2019, Cricket Australia awarded her with a contract with the National Performance Squad ahead of the 2019/20 season.

Sutherland had an impressive domestic performance in 2019, and as a result was included in Australia’s T20I squad for the Tri-Nation Series, featuring Indian women and England women as the other two teams.

She was pretty expensive with the ball, giving away 23 runs in 2 overs. However, she came back strongly and scored a quickfire 22 of a mere 11 deliveries and managed to salvage a draw for her team.

Impressive debut in the Tri-Series resulted in Sutherland’s inclusion in the Women’s World T20I squad. She played in the group stage matches but did not feature in the knockout matches of the tournament as Australia won the 2020 Women’s World T20 Championship.

In the same year, she made her ODI debut against New Zealand. She picked up a wicket and was not required to bat as Australia won the match before she could bat.

One of the brightest young talents in world cricket at the moment, Sutherland has all the tools necessary to be a successful cricketer. She is touted as the next big thing in Australian women’s cricket and the team management has to make sure that Sutherland fulfils her potential and reaches new heights in world cricket.
