So, that's a wrap up on Match 20 of the WBBL 2023. We will be back tomorrow for a double header in Perth. Switch tabs to catch India vs Sri Lanka in the World Cup and quarterfinal action of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023. Stick around to our network for all the cricketing actions from across the world and across formats.

For now, this is Ayan Chatterjee signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Arijit Kundu alongside scorer/analyst Paras Yadav. Stay safe, happy, and cool. Goodbye and CHEERS!
Annabel Sutherland receives the golden arm now. She has overtaken Ashleigh Gardner as the tournament's leading wicket-taker.
Nicola Carey (Player of the Match): "It's always a little bit stressed when it goes to the last over. It was good to get Naomi at the last few overs as she hit some good shots. Not a traditional Blundstone wicket. We tried to get some runs and then get some boundaries, and I think it worked well for us.

I think it was a bit of playing in front of us. We see Heather and myself closing in the bowling for us. But I think Amy Smith and others, they did well.

Yeah, I guess the surge being a two overs, you can get a little bit funky at times. I tried to hit it straight down the ground but wasn't that successful. I was happy to get off the strike and get Naomi hit it straight with the line.

We have got it wrong on the path but we have got some momentum. It's nice to be on a roll now and hopefully, we can get some more on our way."
4:37 PM IST, 10:07 Local Time: Nicola Carey hits the winning runs as Hobart Hurricanes Women secures a hat-trick of wins after losing their first two games. They climb upwards in the points table with a 6-wicket win over Melbourne Stars Women in Hobart. They have outplayed the Stars and played the key moments better to win the game in the end. The Stars were a few runs short in the end despite them recovering from a precarious position.

Chasing 143 for the win on a tricky surface, the Hurricanes got off to a solid start courtesy of Lizelle Lee and skipper Ellyse Villani. Lee was the first one to go for 17. The skipper looked good for her 41 off 36 balls. They lost their way in the middle phase but recovered through the partnership between Nicola Carey and Naomi Stalenberg. The duo came together at 74/4 and took the side over the line. Carey was unbeaten on 41* off 30 balls while Naomi Stalenberg was with her on 33* off 25 balls as the Hurricanes kept their cool to win the game by 6 wickets with 8 extras given by the fielding side.

The Stars had a below par score to defend and they tried their best. Annabel Sutherland was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/32 in 4 overs. A wicket apiece for Sophie Day and Sasha Moloney. They tried taking the game till the final over, but it was a bridge too far as the Stars went down fighting.

Earlier in the game, Melbourne Stars won the toss and elected to bat first. and lost wickets at regular intervals. Sophie Reid went for a duck. Annabel Sutherland scored 12. Maia Bouchier scored 10 while Sophia Dunkley scored 17. They were 46/4 after 10 overs at one stage. But amidst the ruins, the skipper of the Melbourne Stars Meg Lanning stood up with a breath-taking 75 off 50 balls. But she did not get the support from the other end and that's why they could not kick on. It was a solo effort from Lanning as she held the innings together. 7 extras were given by the fielding side as the Stars finished with 142/8 in 20 overs.

It was a superb bowling display by the Hurricanes with Shabnim Ismail leading the way with figures of 3/34 in 4 overs. She was ably assisted by Molly Strano who finished with 2/14 in 4 overs. Maisy Gibson picked up a couple of wickets as well. Amy Smith got a wicket to her name as well. All in all, a good disciplined performance from the Hurricanes and the batters did their job as well.

So, The Hurricanes win by 6 wickets and climbs upwards in the points table.
19.2 A Capsey to N Carey
1 A good save inside the inner ring but somehow the ball did not just stop there. It went past the fielder. Carey and Stalenberg capitalizes as the cork leaves the short mid-wicket fielder and the duo completes the winning run. Length delivery outside the off. Carey goes hard for the pull along the ground. Hobart Hurricanes emerge victorious in their backyard and the Blundstone Arena crowd buzzes in enthusiasm.
19.1 A Capsey to N Carey
2 Length and outside the off. Carey drags this one in the gaps towards sweeper cover. The duo runs hard for a brace and neats the running between the wickets. The scores are level now.
Arijit: Can we get to see a Meg Lanning master defense? But three runs to defend in the final over would be too much.
3 runs are needed off the final over.

18.6 S Moloney to N Carey
1 Length and outside the off. Carey drags it towards left of long on from outside the line and collects a single.
18.5 S Moloney to N Stalenberg
1 Pitched up at the off stump line. Stalenberg chips it aerial and finds it short of widish long on.
18.4 S Moloney to N Stalenberg
4 FOUR!!! It does not matter if the over started with a hat-trick of dots. Stalenberg keeps her calm, gets across and slogs it down the ground, straight as an arrow over the bowler's skull. That's some stroke and long off was nowhere near the ball. It was in the slot and Stalenberg took the gift gleefully.
18.3 S Moloney to N Stalenberg
0 Three dots on a row and the equation is back to run-a-ball. Full and quick at the leg stump. Stalenberg plays it back to the right of the bowler who grabs.
18.2 S Moloney to N Stalenberg
0 Yet another dot ball. Meg Lanning master defense on the cards? Length and outside the off. Stalenberg cuts it towards point.
18.1 S Moloney to N Stalenberg
0 Full and quick near the off. Stalenberg flicks it to mid on. A dot ball to start the over.
Sasha Moloney will bowl the 19th over.
The Hurricanes now need 9 off 12 balls.
