3:07 PM IST, 8:37 PM Local Time | Well that's all she wrote for this match folks! A comfortable win for Sydney Thunder today!

Hop onto our coverage of India vs New Zealand from the cricket world cup LIVE now!

This is Anirudh, signing off along with my co-commentator Deepak, and our scorer/analyst Paras Yadav! See you on the next one!
Chamari Athapaththu (Player of the Match): "Actually, I'm really happy about my performance and my team's performance. The coach the support staff and the teammates helped me a lot, so I'm really enjoying it here.

[Talking about not getting picked up in the WBBL draft] Sometimes I can't control these kinds of things, so I just play my game. I'm focused on my game, so hopefully I can get any chance from next year as well.

I feel that the staff and the players are doing really well, and we always talk about positive things in our dressing room. That's why we won today."

2:56 PM IST, 8:26 PM Local Time | It's the Sydney Thunder Women that come out on top in the Sydney derby! They defeat the Sydney Sixers Women by 42 runs to take home the points and the bragging rights!

Sydney Sixers Women won the toss and elected to field first,
but the decision proved to be in favour of the Thunder. Chamari Athapaththu and Tahila Wilson took the game by the scruff of it's neck and went onto establish a 98 run opening stand to put immense pressure on the Sixers. In the process, Chamari mesmerized us with a well deserved half-century.

Jess Kerr put a little spanner in the works in the 12th over, dismissing both openers to have a sniff back in the game for the Sixers. However, Phoebe Litchfield had other ideas as the Southpaw took on the mantle from Chamari and blazed away to an unbeaten 54 runs off 28 balls to power her team to a total of 190/5 at the end of the 20 overs.

Come the chase, it was Chamari again who opened the account for Thunder as she dismissed Pelle in the second over to put Sixers under more pressure. The Women in Pink never recovered after that, losing wickets at regular intervals with the required run-rate on a constant rise.

There was hope with Ellyse Perry's cameo of 31 runs off 16 balls but the skipper Heather Knight ensured she dismissed her counterpart before things became difficult for her side. Eventually the Thunder bowlers were able to put the choke on with regular wickets to win the game by 42 runs.

Chamari was the star performer as she followed up her half-century with 3/20 from her 4 overs. While, Heather Knight too chipped in with 3/27 from her 4 overs. The game would have ended sooner if the Thunder were not sloppy in the field as they put down two simple opportunities but it was compensated with Porter's blinder at mid-wicket to dismiss Gardner.

Sydney Thunder will be elated with the result today and will go home with big smiles on their faces. Meanwhile, Sydney Sixers will take lessons from this game and hope to get back to winning ways in their next encounter.
