That’s a wrap from our side as well. Thank you for joining us from all around the globe. This is Prince Suman signing off on behalf of my co-commentator Megh Mandaliya and Scorer / Analyst Zeeshan Naiyer. Do join us for the other fixtures across the globe. Until then, Ta-Ta, Bye-Bye.
Nicholas Pooran (MI New York Captain): "We knew we messed up things really bad there. But well done to the guys. I think they really stepped up today. Today we had to fight to survive. In all fairness, Jansen bowled really well in the powerplay and we were losing wickets in crucial areas. We could have gone to 170 but we messes up. We will have to control the powerplay as much as possible. But we will have to forget that as fast as possible. We have another game tomorrow. I felt there was some assistance in the powerplay if you bowl straight. As a group, when you win games like this, it boosts your confidence. If you wanna win tournaments, these are the games you wanna win"
Moises Henriques(Washington Freedom Captain): "Yeah, I think it probably didn't play the wicket. I mean, it looked amazing. It probably didn't quite play as consistently as I would have expected, but I still thought 140 there was probably chasable if we as a batting group made some better decisions throughout the middle order there, but unfortunately it didn't quite go our way today.

Probably not a heap, just because the wickets were a bit fresh like they'd had probably a week of the wickets. So I thought maybe they had enough time to just get a little bit of water back into the square and sort of saw in the first couple of games that the wicket actually sort of shot through. And with our Pace bowling attack, I thought with the first game back here that maybe there would have been a bit of nip or something on offer."

And even if it was a low scoring game like it was, it's always nice to be able to chase, I think, in a low scoring game just because, especially in that power play, you don't feel like there's any sort of scoreboard pressure. So I felt like at the halfway point that if we did bat well, the game was ours, but unfortunately, we didn't. But I was really happy throughout the tournament.

I don't think we ever really played the perfect game and we still scrapped and I thought we played some really good cricket, but without ever really getting 40 overs together. So I think it's a good sign for Washington moving forward."
Dewald Brevis (Player of the Match): "Absolutely, I am so happy at the moment. We have been working really hard as a team and it's good to see the results come out. I can bat anywhere as long as I can contribute to the team. Polly gave me some advice. The situation was there. I was just playing my shots and enjoying the game. I was just hitting everything that was in my arc. Everyone chipped in really well today.
Powerhitter of the Day: Tim David
Play of the Day: Nosthush Kenjige
Trent Boult: "Score that was a little bit lower than we were expecting. But in games like this, must win games. I thought the way the boys went out there and fought for every run felt a lot of pressure and to come away, the win is very satisfying. Yeah, it's nice to mix it up a little bit, but I've just thoroughly enjoyed the experience so far. See the crowds packed in here this afternoon for the big game this afternoon, but I think the crowds have been phenomenal. Yeah, definitely very good. I see the three young lads up there, so it's always a good feeling. So hopefully they let me sleep tonight and we can come back for a good game tomorrow."
5:45 AM IST, 7:15 PM Local Time | That will do it for MI New York! They have knocked out the Washington Freedom to advance to the Challenger. This has been a fantastic turnaround from them after being restricted to 141/7 in the first innings. MI New York have defeated Freedom quite connivingly by 16 runs in the Eliminator in the absence of Kieron Pollard. It was a disappointing batting display from Washington. Their top order failed to fire and never looked comfortable in the chase.

Chasing a meager total of 142, Trent Boult gave an early setback to Washington Freedom by having the woods over Matthew Short 8(8). The MI New York bowlers took the pace off in the field restrictions and executed cutters to perfection. As a result, Freedom only managed to aggregate 37 runs off the powerplay. Andries Gous and Mukhtar Ahmed did the repair work and added 34 runs for the 2nd wicket before Gous 24(25) holed out in the deep.

The right-handed Mukhtar Ahmed 19(19) took his time to adjust to the conditions and kept rotating the strike before he was involved in an unfortunate run-out. The Washington innings went haywire following the departure of Mukhtar as the MI New York ripped through their middle order. Skipper Moises Henriques was cleaned up on 2(3) trying to hoick across the line and Nosthush Kenjige added another wicket to his tally by outwitting Obus Pienaar for 4(4).

The MI New York bowlers kept piling up the pressure and never allowed the batters to cut loose. The left-arm pacer Trent Boult flustered the batters with his slower deliveries in the middle overs. The New Zealand batter Glenn Phillips tried to drag the matters till the end but a lapse in concentration halted his stay on 20(19).

Everything was going swimmingly for New York before Marco Jansen teed off in the 18th over and swatted 18 runs off
Ehsan Adil. Boult once again changed the complexion of the game by removing both the set-batters in the penultimate over. He was also the most successful bowler for MI New York and finished his spell with the figures of 4/20. The Freedom failed to recover after that and fell 16 runs short of the target. Stick around for the post-match presentation!
