David Warner signs off from Test cricket. On that note, it's time for us to take your leave. We enjoyed bringing out all the updates from this New Year Test which was David Warner's last. For now, this is Akshay Bhide, signing off on behalf of scorer Bishal Mandal. Until next time, cheers and goodbye.
We will miss this celebration 👇👇
A perfect farewell for David Warner as he bows out of Test cricket with a win. You cannot ask for a better end. The modern-day great ends his Test career on a high. Hits a fifty in his final Test innings and helps his side secure a eight-wicket win to clean-sweep the series. Emotional scenes here at the SCG as the swashbuckling opener from New South Wales, who was drafted in the national squad on the back of zero first-class experience, bows out of the longest format at his home ground as one of the modern-day greats. 'The Bull' retires from Test cricket and this is the final time that we are seeing him in whites.

We will miss you David Warner in Test cricket ❤️

- Akshay Bhide

Pat Cummins receives the trophy and his teammates join him. David Warner is holding the trophy along with Cummins as all the Australian players pose for the photographs.
Pat Cummins (Australia Captain and Player of the Series): “Yeah. Really happy with how that’s gone. The rhythm felt good throughout the series and it was my turn hopefully to pick wickets.

I won’t take credit for that. A couple of moments where we felt behind but the boys stepped up and took us back into the game.

I think having them four down at the end of the first session was important. When we batted, I feel our batters batted really well. Just a bit of subcontinent conditions, the batters brought out sweeps. You can’t defend. You have to take on the bowlers and the way Marnus and Warner played was brilliant.

It was great. Beauty of Test cricket late in the day, the whole of stadium erupting. Joshy has bowled brilliantly throughout the series without much luck but happy for him.

Huge series for Mitchy. In each test, contributed with the bat and picked up wickets in crucial moments. A guy who puts the pressure back on the opposition.

I heard this is David's last Test apparently. He is hard to replace. He is a huge personality. He sets the game up with the way he plays. It will be hard to replace and we will see how it goes.

We’ll get home for a week before head to Adelaide for the first Test against West Indies. Good time to reflect on the series and on Davey's fantastic career."
Player of the Series: Pat Cummins
Shan Masood gives a signed jersey to David Warner.
Shan Masood (Pakistan Captain): “I think a bit similar in Melbourne. We are learning the hard way. Missing a few chances. That may have been a lead of 50-60. Dropping Mitchell Marsh and a bit of déjà vu from Melbourne. They came out looking for wickets.

The thinking was to bowl spinner from the start from one end. But David Warner and Labuschagne counter-attacked. With 130, you could have a go at the start and defend when needed. I think we were short but Australia played well. It’s the game of our innings and not of two innings. That’s the learning we can take from this series.

That’s the thing we have to do. It’s more about team goals. Rizwan top-scored but none of the others scored above 200. We picked up 20 wickets on different occasions but we have to improve. We have 10 months before the next Test match. It’s a long time for the players to reassess before we face Bangladesh in August.

I want to give a token of appreciation and a bit of gift for David Warner. Can you please come on the stage. Thank You So Much. We as a team thought of giving you Babar Azam shirt with signatures of all players and all the best for all the future endeavors."
Aamir Jamal (Player of the Match): “Definitely. I have waited for a long time to get here. First of all, I would like to congratulate Australia. They were brilliant in all three departments and congratulate on the win.

Definitely. The feelings are incredible. I’m over the moon with the performances. I sticked to the basics and sticked to my passion. That’s why I got the result.

I loved every moment I knew they would come out hard against me. But I just tried not to give up.

(On bowling with the new ball) No. I think we have got good pacers in Mir Hamza and Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali and I’ll stick with the first or second change."
