Barmy Army won the toss and elected to bowl first. Their decision was vindicated as the powerplay saw them pick up 3 wickets and restrict the Tornadoes to just 34/3 from the first 6 overs. However, Sune Luus and Miles had other ideas. The duo went onto stitch together a 97 run-stand to power their team to a toal of 160/4 from their 20 overs.
Sune Luus stayed unbeaten on 65 runs off 43 balls, while Fatima Sana was the pick of the bowlers for her 1/24 from her 4 overs.
Come the chase, Laura Winfield-Hill started off in an explosive manner! And she never looked back after that. It was boundary after boundary, maximum after maximum as the English opener smashed her way to an unbeaten 120 runs off 64 balls to power her team to victory inside 16 overs! Wolvaardt played the perfect foil as her solid 40 runs off 31 balls ensured her partner had all the liberty to play freely!
A terrible bowling effort from the Tornadoes and they will be ruing their missed chances in the field today. If only that catch had been taken, things could have turned out differently for them.
