Player Bio

A doughty right-handed wicket-keeper batter, Lauren Winfield-Hill started playing domestic cricket for Yorkshire, and after some impressive performances in the initial few seasons, she became a part of the England Academy squad in 2013.

Winfield made her England debut in the same year against Pakistan in the two-match ODI series. Batting at no.7, the wicket-keeper accumulated 16-runs across the two matches that she played.

In her debut series, Winfield looked promising and the team management decided to promote her as an opener for all three formats.

She repaid the faith of the team management by scoring a blistering 74 against South Africa in a T20I game in 2014.

At the start of the 2014 County season, Winfield was made the Yorkshire skipper and she helped her side to achieve their first County title since 2002. Not only with her captaincy skills, but the York-born was equally good with the bat, averaging 95 across the season.

The Diamonds' cricketer struggled to transfer the domestic form in the international circuit and was dropped from the 2016 Women’s World T20.

Post the 2016 World Cup, the fearless batter was recalled into the T20I squad against Pakistan. In the second T20I game of the series, the Adelaide Strikers cricketer scored 123 and went onto share a record T20 stand of 147 with fellow opener Tammy Beaumont.

In 2019, Winfield was awarded the central contract by the ECB.

One of the most promising players in the English domestic circuit, Winfield has not been able to replicate her domestic form at the international level. She has played few really good innings for her side but has struggled to break into the England national setup.
