However, the carnage from RCB bowlers did not cease there. The Rajasthan skipper Sanju Samson was the next man to depart as the right-hander was caught on 4(5) attempting a needless hoick. Joe Root announced his arrival in the IPL with a cheeky scoop and he joined forces with Devdutt Padikkal to provide a little period of respite but Parnell struck again for RCB by trapping Root 10(15) in front. Padikkal was also soon dismissed for 4(4).
Shimron Hetmyer played a counterattacking knock of 35(19) to elude a collapse but the wickets kept tumbling at the other end and eventually, the Royals were bundled out for 59. The left-armer Wayne Parnell was the pick of the bowlers for RCB and bagged three crucial wickets in the collapse. Bracewell and Karn Sharma collected a couple of wickets each while Maxwell and Siraj also extracted one wicket each.
KM Asif drew the first blood as the right-armer got better off Kohli 18(19) with a knuckleball. Glenn Maxwell walked in at number three and the ‘Big Show’ got into the groove straightaway. Maxwell accelerated the innings and released some pressure off Faf du Plessis. The duo of Maxwell and du Plessis again resurrected the Bangalore innings and stitched a 69-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. The RCB skipper got to his 7th half-century of the season before KM Asif dismissed him on 55(44).
The departure of du Plessis turned the game upside down as Adam Zampa bagged two quick wickets in the 16th over. The right-arm spinner outfoxed Dinesh Karthik 0(2) and Mahipal Lomror 1(2) in a single over and gathered momentum for the hosts. Maxwell brought up his 18th half-century in IPL before he was uprooted by Sandeep Sharma on 54(33). Anuj Rawat swatted a crucial 29*(11) at the backend of the innings and took RCB past 170. Zampa was the most successful bowler for the Royals and ended his stint on 2/25.
