Milestone
So, that is it from an enthralling encounter in the WPL. RCB need to pull up their socks soon and Mike Hession was seen summoning a huddle with the players at one end of the field. Good news for the Giants as they snapped their first victory.

We hope you've enjoyed the coverage from us. Time to sign off, Arijit Kundu alongside, co-commentator, Akshay Bhide, and scorer/analyst, Chandan Kumar Singh.
Sophia Dunkley (Player of the Match): "It was a bit touch and get. Very proud of the girls to get the win today. No, of course, no[on if she asked the management for not playing her in the first match]. I would love to play on this great opportunity. I think, if you bat, get positive, and try to hit the ball hard, you can get into the flow. I think, on this wicket, even 200 isn't enough. It was a close finish and we're happy with the result."
Player of the Match: Sophia Dunkley
Sneh Rana (Gujarat Giants Women Skipper): "Amazing. Incredible. Superb effort from the girls and I'm proud of them. The finger injury will get fine. Even I can't afford more injuries to my hand. Defending here at CCI is never easy. I know it was going to be a tough game. But we lived up to that. We thought of giving Sutherland the last over because we knew she would bowl good wide yorkers and she did well. We are a good balanced team. We have a good combination. It's something that we were looking for from the first game and happy with this win."
Powerful striker of the game: Sophia Dunkley (65 runs off 28 balls)
Harleen Deol (Gujarat Giants Women): "Feels great to get the first win. The wicket was so good. I backed myself and my strengths. Sneh is a fighter. There was a slight bleeding but we know she will fight and play."
Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore Women Skipper): "Well I think we gave 10-15 runs extra. The girls batted well but there were a couple of overs where we got only three or four runs. Maybe we would have scored seven or eight runs. It's a good wicket and a good outfield. One end is short and that played in a few of our bowlers' minds. The way Shreyanka bowled and batted, it is certainly a positive. Kanika also showed a great approach and these are the positives we will take from this one."
10:57 PM IST | A close-fought victory for the Gujarat Giants Women and finally they opened their winning account. RCB are still to find their first triumph but they do have some positives from this game. Bowling remains to be a major factor for the Bangalore-based franchise. However, chasing a 200+ score was always going to be difficult.

Arriving for a chase of 202 runs, RCB got a strong start from openers Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine. The latter continued to hammer the bowlers till the 17th over before falling to Annabel Sutherland due to the steep curve of the required rate. The RCB skipper was once again done by the match-up of a right-arm off-spinner. It was Ashleigh Gardner who got the better of the southpaw this day. It was the seventh time in history that the Aussie dismissed the Indian batter.

Ellyse Perry built a partnership of 43 runs with Devine and it was Richa Ghosh who followed with a scratchy knock. The spinners - Gardner and Rana did a superb job in controlling the various phases of the match and toppled the opposition batters when the need arrived. Gardner finished with a three-fer and Sutherland bagged a two-fer despite going for 56 runs in her four overs. Kanika Ahuja and Poonam Khemnar fell cheaply and Heather Knight (30* off 11 balls) was the lone warrior who stayed unbridled at the end.

Winning the toss, Sneh Rana of Gujarat Giants elected to bat first. They seemed to come with the aim of scoring a hefty total and walked the talk, courtesy of Sophia Dunkley's blistering innings of 65 runs off 28 balls. She became the fastest cricketer to race a fifty in the history of WPL.

After the early dismissal of Sabbhineni Meghana, Harleen Deol orchestrated the English Woman and glued a partnership of 60 runs together. Shreyanka Patil broke the partnership but Deol shepherded the innings from one end. Ashleigh Gardner, Dayalan Hemalatha, and Annabel Sutherland manufactured quickfires from the other side of the spectrum. This helped the Giants reach the 200 runs mark. Patil and Heather Knight bagged two wickets each and we're the highest wicket-takers of the innings.

Stay tuned for the post-match presentation.

19.6 A Sutherland to S Patil
0 Sutherland bowls it full and well outside off, Patil throws her hands at it but fails to get any bat on this one. A dot to end the over and with this, the Gujarat Giants Women beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women by 11 runs.
Arijit: Why wasn't Shreyanka sent up the order? Were the RCB management not aware of her potential?
19.5 A Sutherland to S Patil
4 FOUR!!!!1 Sutherland bangs it short on the body and it sits up nicely for Patil who sits back and pulls it aerially behind square in the leg side for a boundary. One bounce and into the fence. Something for the RCB fans to cheer for.
19.4 A Sutherland to S Patil
6 SIXXX!!!! That's an incredible shot from Shreyanka Patil. Shuffles across the stumps and gets down on one knee to slog the length delivery high and handsomely over the square leg fence for a biggie. She has a big smile on her face.
19.3 A Sutherland to H Knight
1 A low full toss on the pads and Knight whips it straight to deep square leg for only a single.
An injured Sneh Rana dives to her right to save the four. What an effort. Heart of a Lionness.
19.2 A Sutherland to S Patil
1 Brilliant piece of fielding from Sneh Rana. Sutherland bowls it full and Patil drills it straight. Rana at mid off runs to her right and dives to stop it. Saves three for her side. 23 required from 4 now.
