So, it is a wrap from our side. Hope you have enjoyed our coverage of the 17th match of Pakistan Super League 2023 between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi from Rawalpindi.
For now, this is Saptak Sanyal, signing off from the behalf of my co-commentator Wali Siddique and scorer Manish Bishnoi. Stay tuned with us for all the live cricketing actions around the globe.
Good night.
Babar Azam (Captain of Peshawar Zalmi): “We lost back to wickets and that put us under pressure. The way Powell and Kohler-Cadmore played was excellent, Haseebullah also batted well. This wicket supports the batters, the batters executed their shots well. Our bowlers also did well. Every win gives us confidence and this was an important match to win, hopefully we will win the upcoming games."
Rovman Powell (Player of the Match): "It was a good wicket. Credit has to be given to the two batters before me who allowed me to come and launch. I thought everything was in my zone, all I had to do was get in for the first five to ten balls. I came in with some form here but it was unfortunate for me to not get runs. However, I think things can change from here."

Imad Wasim (Captain of Karachi Kings): "We didn't bowl well, credit goes Powell and Haseebullah. We gave away a lot of runs in the last six overs which made it difficult for us to chase. It's been the same in our previous games as well. You need to bowl more yorkers on such wickets. Amir has got his form back and that's good to see. It was tough to bowl as a spinner but Shamsi and Mujeeb did bowl well. We'll come hard and have to execute our plans. We'll play with pride for Karachi and are still in the tournament."

198 was a bit tough ask as Matthew Wade and Adam Rossington went out to bat for Karachi Kings. But with their intense quality of finding the gap and punishing the odd balls, they were able to score at a rate of around 10 until Rossington's weak heave went straight to the deep square leg fielder and made Karachi Kings 40-1. Tayyab Tahir was the next man in but he was also unable to contribute as his departure was confirmed by Azmatullah Omarzai. Number 4 batter, Irfan Khan Niazi(4) struggled initially and awarded his wicket to experienced Afghan spinner Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. Experienced Shoaib Malik was the next to fall cheaply and his dismissal made his team down to 81-4!

Matthew Wade was the lone fighter in the first half of the Karachi innings. He pulled, he slashed, he made some cuts and eventually completed his half century but he also got dismissed playing  Mujeeb-ur-Rahman's leg stump pitching delivery on a completely wrong line for 53. After the dismissal of Wade, it was completely a match for the bowling team. Struggling Ben Cutting was out as he tried a weak heave on a good length pitching ball, on middle and leg. Aamer Yamin slogged the first ball of 16th over for a massive but departed the next ball, trying to replicate the result. Next batter Tabraiz Shamsi was in and out as he lost his off stump on the very first delivery he faced.

Then it came all on Imad Wasim, the only cricketer left, who could time the ball. Imad started with Javed when 76 was needed off 27 and reduced the equation to 43 off 12 with assembling 22 runs in the 18th over. But the penultimate over from experienced Wahab Riaz was too good for him as he failed to connect properly. When Arshad Iqbal was going to start the last over, six maximums were not sufficient for Karachi to win the game. Iqbal conceded just 13 runs to win the game for his team by 24 runs.

Earlier coming to bat, Peshawar were reduced to 2-3 due to the excellent spell of Mohammed Amir and Aamer Yamin. But the revolt was done perfectly by Tom-Kohler Cadmore, Haseebullah Khan and Rovman Powell. Initially, Haseebullah started breaking the shackles with his power hitting and then he was perpetuated by other two big hitters. Aamer Jamal played a good cameo of 5 ball 13 to ensure his team reach 197.
