Match Details
06:45 PM IST | Saipavan |: With
this six, Sharjah
Warriors win this game by 7
wickets and registered their first win in ILT20 2023. They were clinical
in all three departments and rightly so bagged the eventual victory in the end.
While chasing 178, the Sharjah Warriors started the inning with Gurbaz and Kohler-Cadmore. They had a great start as they built up a partnership of 47 runs in the 3.3 overs for the first wicket before Gurbaz departed at 18 runs off 9 balls. Warriors scored 95 runs with the loss of one wicket in the powerplay.
Malan failed to impress us today as he departed at 9
runs. Skipper Moeen Ali also looked aggressive and went off at 15 off 9 balls. On the other end, Kohler-Cadmore looked comfortable
in the middle and completed the fastest fifty in the ILT20 and also registered a hundred in his name and stayed unbeaten at 106 runs off 47 balls. Joe
Denly and Kohler-Cadmore gave
the finishing touch with the six.
Earlier in the day, Sharjah Warriors won the toss and opt to bowl first. The Capitals openers Robin Uthappa and his co-partner Joe Root failed to give a good start for the Capitals as they lost 2 wickets in 3 overs. But Root and Lawrence built up a partnership of 82 runs for the third wicket before Lawrence departed at 34 off 28 balls with the help of 2 fours and a six.
Root looked great in middle and completed his first half-century in ILT20 and remained unbeaten on 80* off 54 balls. Rovman Powell played an excellent knock of 44 runs off 27 balls. Yusuf Pathan played just one ball that he smoked for six runs and the Capitals posted 177/4 on the board.
Sharjah Warriors bowlers were not up to the mark. They
scalped 2 wickets in just 2.3 overs but failed to capitalize on the start they
got. Chris Woakes was the pick of the bowlers for Sharjah Warriors as he
scalped a couple of wickets in his 4-over spell.
