Sunil Narine (Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Captain): "Yeah, I think we started well. The first ten overs weren't bad. We bowled a few loose deliveries later and that is where the momentum changed. Yeah, we needed him to go a little deeper. He batted well though. We didn't get any big partnerships. But this was our first game. We will look to learn from it.
It swung and seam a bit. We have to try to get the early wickets. Getting the early wickets will be the key to setup the next overs. The ball isn't spinning that much. In the chase of 188, the Knight Riders never looked comfortable apart from Paul Stirling who scored a solid fifty at the top. The Capitals bowling line-up looked up to the mark as each and every bowler picked up a wicket at least and never let the opposition from the chain.
Andre Russell the main pillar of this batting line-up failed to make his mark in the opening game. Interestingly for the Knight Riders apart from Stirling and Russell none of the other batters reached the double-figure mark. The spin duo of Raza and Mujeeb were economical throughout their spells as Raza picked up a wicket and Mujeeb managed to snatch a couple.
Earlier in the evening, Uthappa and Root provided a really good start for the Capitals and skipper Powell and Raza gave the finishing touch to the innings.
