Winning the toss, Bangla Tigers opted to bat first earlier in the match. Despite a blistering start from Joe Clarke, the Tigers lost their way in between as David Wiese struck a couple of times, and after 2.4 overs, the Tigers were at 25/3.
Iftikhar Ahmed once again showed his worth as he smoked an unbeaten 54 off 21 deliveries, including 3 fours and 5 sixes, to power the team to a good total. Apart from him, most of the middle-order batters failed to perform under pressure. Shakib Al Hasan played a quick cameo of 17 from 9 deliveries. So a great batting effort from Iftikhar took them to a total of 108/6 in their allotted 10 overs.
For Bangla Tigers, Mohammad Hasnain and David Wiese picked a couple of wickets, while Andre Russell and Odean Smith scalped a wicket each.
Chasing a competitive total, Deccan Gladiators openers Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Nicholas Pooran came out with all guns blazing and added an unbeaten partnership of 109 in no time. In the meanwhile, both of them scored their respective half-centuries. While Kohler-Cadmore scored an unbeaten 50 off 21 balls, with five 4's and four 6's, Pooran was unbridled at 50 off 16 deliveries, including 1 four and 7 sixes. Pooran, especially, tore apart the opposition skipper, Shakib, as he smashed five sixes off his over to decimate Bangla Tigers.
