That’s a wrap from our side as well. Afghanistan thumped Sri Lanka by 60 runs and leads the series by 1-0. We appreciate your participation from all across the world. On behalf of my co-commentators Arijit Kundu and Probuddha Bhattacharjee, I, Deepak Prakash, signing off. Please join us for the other fixtures across the world. Until then, Ta-Ta, Bye-Bye.✌✌
Hasmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): "I am feeling good. The boys played well, especially in the batting. They were good later in the bowling. I am feeling proud of them. Yeah, we didn't play well in the last end, we were 20 runs short I guess. The plan was simple, to go wicket to wicket for the bowlers. Thank You!!"
Dasun Shanaka(Skipper Sri Lanka): "It's disappointing. In bowling, we didn't carry out our plans. On this surface, 290+ is a good pitch, but we could have performed better. We got 230 or so runs in 38 overs on a terrific wicket, but we had absolutely no partnerships. In the middle of the innings, we didn't control the ball properly, but we did well in the end."
Ibrahim Zadran (Player of the Match): "Thank you so much. Yeah exactly, we wanted to bat first if we won the toss and the wicket was pretty good for batting. I read the wicket well and took my time so I batted well. After 10 overs I passed the message to my team that we should go for 320. Our bowlers did very well and made life difficult for them."
9:50 PM IST | Deepak: Afghanistan leads the three-match ODI series by 1-0 as they crushed the host Sri Lanka by 60 runs in the inaugural ODI match.🎯🎯
Earlier, after deciding to bat first in the first inning, Afghanistan managed to score 294 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs. Ibrahim Zadran had a brilliant inning, scoring 106 runs off 120 balls.👏👏 Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Rahmat Shah both scored a half-century, and in the end, a quick 42 runs off 25 balls from Najibullah Zadran helped Afghanistan score 294 runs. The Sri Lankan bowlers made a strong comeback, bowling well in the end and limiting Afghanistan to 294 runs. Wanindu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, as he scalped a couple of wickets, giving away 42 runs in 10 overs.

In response to 295 runs, Sri Lanka didn’t get off to a good start as they lost Kusal Mendis in the fourth over, who departed after scoring 1 run off 5 balls. Dinesh Chandimal joined Pathum Nissanka at number three, but he didn’t settle in the middle as he was clean-bowled by  Fazalhaq Farooqi with an unplayable delivery. He departed after scoring 14 runs off 11 balls.
Dhananjaya de Silva joined Pathum Nissanka at number four, and the pair started building a partnership, but they were able to add 39 runs for the third wicket as Dhananjaya de Silva departed after scoring 16 runs off 16 balls. He was soon followed by Charith Asalanka, who departed after scoring 10 runs off 18 balls.
Skipper Dasun Shanaka took charge of batting in the middle and built a partnership of 47 runs for the fifth wicket before departing after scoring 16 runs off 27 balls. Sri Lanka were struggling at 137 for the loss of five wickets in 23.5 overs. Pathum Nissanka was batting sensibly but in the 30th over he dragged the ball straight on his stumps and departed after scoring 85 runs off 83 balls.

A swashbuckling inning from Wanindu Hasaranga, in the end, didn’t help Sri Lanka win this game as they were bundled for 234 runs in 38 overs. Wanindu Hasaranga was the last man to get out, and he scored a brilliant 66 runs off 46 balls.

On the flip side,  Fazalhaq Farooqi was the pick of the bowlers for Afghanistan as he scalped 4 wickets giving away 49 runs in 9 overs. Gulbadin Naib too bowled well and scalped three wickets in 8 overs. Yamin Ahmadzai scalped two wickets and Rashid Khan scalped one wicket.

Stay tuned for the presentations...
