Player Bio

In an Afghanistan side filled with power-hitters and stroke makers, Zadran has a tight technique and an even stronger temperament, which makes him an especially promising prospect in the longest format.

After just four months of making his domestic debut for the Mis Ainak Region, he was picked in Afghanistan’s squad for the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup. He finished as the leading scorer with 186 runs for the Afghans.

The Khost-born made his international debut after just a year of announcing himself in the domestic circuit. He was picked in the Afghanistan senior squad for the one-off Test series against Bangladesh. He shone on his debut where his 87 off 208 balls at the top of the order helped fashion a 224-run victory on September 5th, 2019. The following month, he made his ODI debut against the West Indies and flopped on that occasion scoring just 2 which ended in a defeat.

Having impressed everyone in the longer formats, Zadran was named in the Afghan squad for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup. A memorable tournament ended with Zadran leading the scoring charts for Afghanistan with 240 runs in the prestigious tournament. Overall he has played two U-19 World Cups and one Senior World Cup and has been the talisman in ICC tournaments for Afghanistan.

Zadran has proven over the last three years that he has got the qualities to bat for long periods of time. Technically very correct, mentally very strong, his work ethic is very good. He is also an excellent fielder and has proven to be very good against the spinners.
