So then, England will be once again confident going into the third ODI to claim this series. The Sri Lankan batters have a lot of work to do if they are to level this series going into the series decider which will be played in Leicester on Thursday. Hopefully, the weather will be kinder to us there. Do join us then. For now, on behalf of Saptak Sanyal, Deepak Prakash, and scorer Raju Khariya. This is Navjeevan Rajput signing off. Take care, and stay safe.
21:45 IST and 17:15 Local Time | After being sent to bat in an overcast condition, Sri Lanka Women started off brilliantly as they got off to a flyer start with Chamari Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne was batting well for the first three overs and scored a few boundaries.

But right after that Vishmi Gunaratne edged one to Amy Jones off Kate Cross for 8 and then the number three batter Harshitha Madavi departed off Lauren Filer scoring just 6. Right before the final over of the powerplay ends, Chamari Athapaththu fell to Charlie Dean for a run a ball 34 scoring 6 boundaries. It was the turning point of the chase.

After that wickets began to tumble with the run rate slowing down considerably. Charlie Dean and Alice Davidson Richards bowled well through the middle overs and then Sarah Glenn joined them to curtail the run rate. Hansima Karunaratne(8), Kavisha Dilhari(0) and Anushka Sanjeewani(0) fell cheaply.

Oshadi Ranasinghe crossed double figure mark before getting adjudged LBW to Sarah Glenn scoring 12. Throughout the first innings's middle overs, Hasini Perera batted watchfully but she ran out of her partners. When they were 8 wickets down, Udeshika Prabodhani fell poorly as a throw from Kate Cross broke her stump and she was walking back to her pitch and that showed the poor cricket from the Lankan side.

After Prabodhani's dismissal, Sri Lanka Women team was on 106 for 9 after 30.5 overs and then came rain. It was almost over 2 hours of rain interruption and the officials took the decision of calling the match off.

For the England Women team, Charlie Dean was the star bowler taking two wickets after giving away just 12 runs bowling 7 overs. Lauren Filer bowled really well in the opening spell and finished the game giving 25 runs for 2 wickets in her 8 over bowling spell. Alice Davidson Richards took a couple of wickets too in her 5 over spell. Kate Cross was a bit expensive as she gave away runs at 7 runs per over but took 1 wicket. Sarah Glenn was also economical with giing runs at an economy of 2.74 taking one wicket.
21:43 IST and 17:13 Local Time | So then, with no improvement in the weather conditions, the umpires have decided to call off this match. Sri Lanka will be pleased as they were staring at another defeat. England will be disappointed as they had a chance to win this game and clinch the series.
21:20 IST and 16:50 Local Time | It's very gloomy out here in Northampton. The covers are firmly in place and there is no movement around them as the rain continues to fall. In fact, it's gotten even heavier than before as we speak. Not good signs these.
20:50 IST and 16:20 Local Time | No good news to follow here, the rain has gotten heavier. We are losing overs at this stage, and it doesn't look like we will restart anytime soon.
20:22 IST and 15:52 Local Time | No change in the condition and the covers are still on as the rain is continuing.
20:09 IST and 15:39 Local Time | The news from Chester-Le-Street is that the intensity of the rain has reduced but we have dark clouds hovering in the sky. Covers are unmoved and we can expect further delay in play.
7:46 PM IST, 15:16 Local Time: The rain is getting heavier now and more covers are being brought in to protect the square area.
19:36 IST and 15:06 Local Time | It is pouring a bit heavily there in the middle and the players are walking back.  We have the covers coming out in the pitch and that means a brief halt in the play. We already had a 30-minute delayed start so we will start losing overs immediately.
The third umpire is summoned for a run-out check at the bowler's end. Oh dear, what was that? Kulasuriya was just walking out of her crease here and OUT is the decision on the big screen. Casual, very casual from Kulasuriya, and she has to pay the price for it.
30.5 S Glenn to H Perera
W Good length ball, on the fourth stump. Perera defended it to off side and we have a third umpire review for run out as the non-striker was casually walking back to her crease when Kate Cross from cover collected the ball and threw it at the stump and her bat was well above the ground and her feet were out of the crease!! Excellent presence of mind from Kate Cross and poor from Kulasuriya!
30.4 S Glenn to H Perera
0 Fuller, outside leg stump. Swept to short fine leg fielder for no run.
30.3 S Glenn to H Perera
4 Fourrr! Perera received it on length, on the off stump and she got top edge over slip fielder trying to pull it through off side and the chase of the fielder was beaten there.
30.2 S Glenn to H Perera
0 On length, to the off stump. Perera defended the ball on her backfoot.
30.1 S Glenn to H Perera
0 Dot ball. Perera defends the full ball, angling to off stump on front foot.
Over to Saptak for next 10 overs.
